808 sample storage
808 sample storage
Hi,i made my first sample the other day.Stored it in the user mem.,created a pattern for it,and saved.All good so far,until i bought my flash card.When i came to re-write the sample from the User to Card,i was unable to allocate it in the CSAM section and could only save it as a patch.Once i erased the sample from the User mem. and switched off,i lost the sample completely.The patch on the Card has the sample name but will not sound when the pattern is played back.Apart from choosing a destination when you first store the recording,how do i transfer USAM's to CSAM's freeing up the RAM.
Re: 808 sample storage
Hi ginge73,
you must import the wav file to the memory card through the import function of the mc-808. Import it and save it with shift+write.
Ciao, Dirk.

import function
Do you mean using the Editor on the PC,import to file then load on to my card.Can i not send it straight from the 16Mb User memory to my card?
Re: 808 sample storage
Hi ginge,
i dont know how. The sample is stored as a smplxxxx file in the internal roland folder. To get it into the card roland folder you should import that file. That means: copy with a pc the sample to the import directory and then use the import function on the mc-808. You do not need the editor software for that.
Theoretically you could copy the sample file smplexxx directly to the destination folder on the card but roland states that you should not do that but use the import function.
