Hi all,
Still considering buying the above and investing in 512meg memory and 1gig CF card. Read in the FAQ you can resample the output of the MC808 and export as a WAV or AIFF file? Is that true?
Is it done digitally or does it use it's own ADCs/DACs as I was wondering what would be the best way of importing the output into Cubase. I have an EMU 0404USB soundcard (which is excellent) but if the mastering can be done digitally in the 808 surely that would be better (unless it uses it's own analog circuitry)....or am I missing the point??
Thanks
Export patterns/songs out from the MC808?
Re: Export patterns/songs out from the MC808?
Hi DLAMusic,
resampling is done digital and the result is optimal. When you upgrade your mc-808 to os 1.03 you can also export patterns as smf files.
Ciao, Dirk.

Re: Export patterns/songs out from the MC808?
Ooooooooh! That is good news.
My card supports 192khz but as the resulting output will still be 44.1khz (for CD) I may as well use the internal downmix of the MC808 if it doesn't use any ADCs/DACs.
Cheers!

Daft question....but whats an SMF file?
Re: Export patterns/songs out from the MC808?
Its a standard midi file.
The idea is to start the work on the mc-808 to produce some patterns...
For the final mix when song structures are more complicated you export the patterns as midi files and import them in your daw software as midi object. From that point you will use the mc-808 like a normal synthesizer driven by the daw.

Wow!
Things have certainly moved on since the MC303 :->
That's kinda exactly what I'd want to do as I quite like editing on Cubase and it would allow me to add parts from the microKORG or JP8000 then. Cool.
Should be here tomorrow. Gonna pack up the MC303 ready for eBay!
