First day with the GT.. (impressions and rambling)

Post by lyzantheris »

I have to say I'm quite impressed. The vocal designer is so cool! I can't wait to dig into this and figure out how to do my own personal voices.. I can see many awesome possibilities. I was also rather relieved that it's extremely easy to tweak around with the sounds. I can't even begin to describe how happy it makes me to not have to sift through page after page of edit screens just to modify patches and tones. Very good interface :)

I have yet to pick up a foot pedal so I can't say how I feel about the AP synthesis yet. That will be for tomorrow!

Also, this thing is dead sexy. It oozes with the look of high value.. especially since it's sitting close to my Juno-G, which despite having a great sound really does look rather plain. The keys on the GT feel very nice too.. again (my basis for comparison: Juno-G). Semi-weighted perhaps?

I'm wondering now if I should keep my Juno. If it's possible to transfer patches from it to the GT then I will definitely be keeping it. At least until I have all the best patches taken hehehe.

A big thank you to everyone who helped steer me into this purchase. Best 3k spent yet!

I'm taking all of next week off work as holidays too just so that I can spend some quality time with my new baby ;)

Wish me luck!

I have the V-Synth XT and the Juno, and they both have completely different synthesis types you can't transfer Juno-G files to the XT (and vice-versa) except by sampling patches, and I can't see that it would be worth the trouble.
I agree with you about the Juno - sound and features are great, but the keys are awful!

Fantom X ... V-Synth

Juno-G ... SH-201

My original formula V-Synth arrives Friday ... it's probably the synth I should have gotten after the X, which I've been making heavy use of for the past two and half years;

I originally passed on it because I wanted something different from the "Roland" sound; now very I'm interested in hearing how it sounds the same/different.

It's been a bit or a circle getting here ... but I think I'll appreciate it more now, after having tried out many more synths in the mean time.

IS IT FRIDAY YET?
