I'm considering bying a V-synth (anyone selling one?) an wondering if Midi over USB is reliable. Do i have to dissconnect and reconnect to use USB Storage mode? Seems really tedious. What is your experience using and swapping between these modes, and has it been improved in version 2.0
Would be very greatful for any insigths.
Yours truly // Max

I assume on Macs USB MIDI will work faster than on Windows (out of the box at least), and having a Mac I must say even with 1.1 it's more than usable, playing a software synth is very close to playing a real one. Regarding the mode, yes you'll need to switch it between storage and MIDI, but as to me it's no hassle as you'd better get a USB card reader ($10-15) and use that one to access your V's card (if you don't have one - you better get one).

No, it's 1.1 but still is okay - just make sure to plug it into the main USB out, not into the Apple keyboard. I worked with V-Synth, Juno-G and PCR-M30 and they all make great controller.

USB MIDI works okay, but I often get random feedback loops in Pro Tools 7. Wish it didn't happen, but it does. Sometimes I need to unplug the MIDI cable in order to un-freeze Pro Tools and the Vsynth.

Interesting issue - I wonder whether this is due to the USB-MIDI driver o the V-Synth, do you have the latest version by the way? And OS 1.53 or 2.0 on the V?

OS 2.0 on the V-Synth, and I downladed the USB MIDI driver a month or so ago (when I got my V). Same thing happens within Ableton Live and Propellerhead's Reason.
I tried turning off "USB MIDI Thru" in the System page, but no change so far.

I find I have to send MIDI clock over an actual MIDI cable, even if I'm sending performance information over USB.
