delay recording my vsynth

Post by pier »

Hello V-tribers ;)

I have a problem when recording my vsynth into an audio track in cubase. I have about 26ms of delay on the audio recorded. It's not a problem for synths, pads or fx... but when it comes to rythmical stuff... :S

I have configured the buffer size of my 828 mk2 to have about 1 ms of latency with the same results... the only solution is to move the audio after recording, or putting a 'negative delay' on the midi track.

Anyone has experienced the same?

I dont think the problem is on the Vsynth but who knows

I forgot to say I'm using a midi cable, not the usb.

Hi I get this sort of delay with the v-synth as well, so its not just you.

Hi!!

I get also a 34 ms delay recording the V-synth with a Yamaha 01x in Live. But to me it seems to be a problem of the 01x driver or the sequenzer, because during the monitoring there is no Latency.
Does anyone has installed skype on the audio PC??
This software seems to manipulate the audio drivers.

Hi all,

I hope this can help PC MIDI Timing and Nuendo.

if you use cubase sx3 it can be solved easely, just create an external instrument connected to the inputs of the soundcard where your vsynt his connected to.

if you use cubase sx2, then you need to use the delay compensation per track (just add the input and output latency) and fill that value on the delay compensation in the inspector.

these are just standard latency issues, it has nothing to do with timing. so, hopefully you have sx3, because sx3 will take care of everything when using external instruments

Hello everyone again, thank you for your posts.

I've been all weekend in my studio with no internet acces. I'm a studio rat you know :D

Robinez:
I have SL3 ($$$) and I dont think I can create that external instrument. I'm already controlling the delay on the inspector but it's a bit tedious when in the middle of a creative tornado. Anyway I'll see if there's anything to assist external gear. Thx.

Kroko:
Thanks for the link, it's a bit long. I hope I can get some conclusions.

If I get to solve this problem I'll keep you informed.

I wouldn't use external instruments in cubase. There are a lot of issues with multitracking an instrument while using the external instrument features.
