windows hijacks the card

Post by degras »

Twice I had to reformat a card because windows corrupted it. This is more of a windows question: how do you stop windows doing anything other than what it is told to on the card?

This has happened to me a lot with PC cards when I remove the card without going through the "stop removable device dialog" or eject drive from explorer first. An icon for this shows up in the task bar when you have a card installed.

This also happens on Linux and Mac, you have to "Safely remove" the device because otherwise the OS won't sync the data transferred to the card and leave it corrupted.

so when it asks about syncing the data I should not ignore this? I just had the librarian say it could not load my project, oh dear.
