Using V synth os 2 V1 waves patches in Xt :)

Hi folks

has anyone sampled the 1.5 waves yet?ive just switched from a v synth to the xt and had presumed ! i could simply load all my 0s2 V 1 patches into it (using the v synths os 2 - v 1 waves update but seems the xt doesnt support upgrade of os whilst retaining the older wave set . . . would have been cool if roland had thought about this and how people would have spent weeks on v 1 waveset sounds and then update to v 2 and maybe need to use in an xt ? i guess they cant think of everything :) Does anyone have the v1.5 waves sampled so i can attempt to recreate some of my patches i have built using a v synth 02 2 with v 1 waves . . . what a game - surely in this day and age roland could have thought about this . . . seems So weird to not allow some form of swapping of internal factory waves in an easy way but i guess thats life . . . .i think teh file management and way they have sorted this is by far the most ridiculous ive used and ive been using studio gear for 20 years and some right junk.Thank god the v synth and xt are open minded in other ways as ive found the whole 'storage and transfer , using v1 sounds-v2 . . xt goes 202 . . .v 1.5 wont work but if you sample and then do this it will ' thing sums up the lack of common sense .Its like me releasing music which wont play on cd players older than 2004 or something unless the owner encodes a new cd . . . .they need to release V 1 waveset for xt but will they ? why the hell are all these companies like weak on this - nord did it with modualr v2 - cant load v 1 sounds . . . Oasy by korg loads Wavestation sounds but not wavesequences . . . . .its like these people have way to much intelligence but dont get the basics or realise the simple things - that i may need to load my sounds i spent years making in the new version (thats not really new at all!)

not a great day for patch editing but where theres a will . . . .looks like i need an Xt and a v synth ! as i'm finding the xt great but its really not got the tactile feel of the V synth , the knobs seem slow and the whole thing seems to have compremise written all over it (which isnt a fair assumption on my part but i get that feeling after trading in a v synth (was a space issue here which kind of forced this)

And i suddenly realise the dbeams magic ! i would have been happy if i could have loaded Os 2.02 with V 1 waveset . . . i dont see why i cant or why they dont offer this which they did for the V synth ? maybe they will ? they managed to allow me to load 1977 d50 patches ! its madness . . . .

cheers and aplogies for the rant.If your reading this and are thinking of swapping a v synth for an xt dont ! get them both . . . and add a Vp9000 (which is way quicker for doing freaky vocal stuff on the fly )

best wishes

matt

you can load the new OS with the old waveset
(or is this just possible using the keyboard?... I'm not sure, search the FAQ)
anyway
I have sampled the old waveset, I have also recreated (to my best hability) the Patches of V.151
give me your mail and I'll direct you to it

I am also interested...

... espacially in the old piano preset.
I love the v2.0 presets and don't want to use a mix with old presets and new os.

My E-Mail Adress is "JohnnyT@gmx.at".
Would be extremly nice, if you could send it!

nice greets. johnny.

Cheers for the offer - i did consider the update and it seems basically that roland released V1.0 waveset with the os 2 update recently so you can upgrade the os but keep the old waveset.Seems the xt is unable to use this ? and so if you use an xt you use the V 2 waveset and if you want to use your v 1-1,5 sounds you are shagged . . . . unless you sample and load them all , do the loops and stuff . . .i looked at the rom and bin files from various v synth updates and the Xt ones are much larger(i guess to hold the Vc1 and vc2 stuff also ).Me personally i think i will trya nd get a v synth again over time and post on every forum how shite roland are and how shite the xt is for using old patches in . . . and how great it sounds . . . the hassle of loading in all the old waveset to my xta nd then mapping samples to the v 1.5 patches i have and looping is more time than i have . . . . i should ahve checked this really before i presumed the 'rack version ' of the ' Vsynth ' is actually a very different unit , not backward compatible patch wise and unable to load old v synth patches. It can load 1977 d50 patches though . . . . :) as far as the editor is concerned i'll pickup a card , get the free editor and upload for everyone . . . and fuck roland.

My XT has new os (2.02) plus v1 sound set courtesy of Cromio. There is no problem with doing this versus the kb. Cromio has done the work for us (- thanks !)

For me the V1 patches are by far the most suitable soundset but I added favourites from V2 to this and have not run out of prj space yet. Piece of cake with librarian.

As far as XT versus kb goes - you pays your money and makes your choice or sometimes take a blind guess.......

Cromio,

Finally got a chance to play with the patches you re-made and they're great! Love to have the old 1.5 sounds again without having to hack the factory waves.

Kudos to you and all the work you put into the sound set!

Hi Cromio & Fello V-Synthers,

Firstly, I should introduce myself, My names Terry and Ive been lurking here for quite a while now. (sounds like an intro at a AA meeting!).

Now that Ive actually registered, I will make an effort to post more often, as this is a really good forum.

Cromio, I wouldnt mind a copy of your 1.5 patch set. Like the others I sort of miss the quirky sounds. Any chance you can email me a copy to terrym2002ukHASH@#yahoo.co.uk, remove both hashes.

Many thanks

Terry

Hi Cromio,
I have the XT as well. Are you uploading the v1 patch set individually or is there a download site? If you are uploading via email add me to your list.
Cheers,
Eric

Cromio,

Guess what? I would love the V1 sounds, but why don't you upload it to this site and save yourself the hassle of mailing it to everyone? In any case if you can send it I am at:

I will owe you several beers for this
