Re: it's really great!
Having installed V2.0 and auditioned the first 300 or so programs, I can't help but think that the new waveset pushes the V-synth towards a ROMpler-like package that would appeal to the hip hop and dance crowd.
A lot of the appegiated patterns have "dance" written all over them and I can't say I'm pleased with the change, and I'm especially not pleased that the new waveset doesn't work with 1.X patches.
Yep, V2.0 sounds warmer and smoother than 1.X. And V2.0 also adds some cool new waves, including the Supersaw along with other new features. It makes the V-synth into a whole new instrument - very cool that it can be done with just an OS upgrade (and free, too!)
The problem is that the upgrade has moved the instrument further away from the instrument I bought and love for it's unique sound. I know I can downgrade to 1.X to get the old sounds back, but I really can't see why Ronald couldn't have combined the old waveset with the new to keep backwards compatibility and keep its current users happy.

Re: it's really great!
But do you really need any of the presets? I mean, the whole idea of this synth is to create - the presets as I see it, are only there to show what the synth is capable of...
Re: it's really great!
It's not so much the presets as the unique OS 1.x PCM's that are irretrievable without reloading the old OS.
I suspect Roland will release an update of OS2 that will unlock the OS 1.x PCM waves, allowing them to be loaded into the synth as a project.
I WISH they would allow the old waves to APPEND to the new ones, so we could program new sounds using PCM's from both OS 1.5 & OS2. That would be the dream!

Come on guys!!!
If you are limiting yourself to creating patches with the built-in waves you are really missing out, and should probably just stick to 1.51 anyway.

B.S.!!
Many of us have invested a lot of time on building new patches, lots of them using the v1.x waves? Why? Because they were there, as an integral part of the synth. We weren't told back then that these patches would be lost when v2.0 would be released.
Of course we like the new v2.0 features, but that doesn't mean we should simply forget about our old patches!
Roland made a big mistake here. They're looking for a new audience for this synth, which is fine with me, but they show little respect for the old v1.x users. And that's weird, because we payed big bucks for this thing.

Re: it's really great!
I like the new patches. A little tweaking, and they will fit into Ambient pieces. Run them through some plug-in's to get some odd rhythmic lines. I would also like to say-Everybody here was so excited about 2.0, now all I see is complaining. That's terrible, 2.0's added features are great, and it says right there that 1.51 patches do not work. There is a price for everthing.

old OS151 patches waves
I am a newbie and not a musician but i have payed over 2000 Euro for the V-Synth 1 and i am also missing the 'old' patches and waves.
Ok ..its better work with the new OS2 but NOT for the price of loosing the old stuff, cause i wasnt asked by Roland to buy a complete different Synth !
For myself i wish Roland would add a project for this.
. . . and btw a:fter spending a night with downloading stuffit expander for using the mac file of OS2 the next morning i could download the PC -version at Roland . us
and i am wondering if V-SYnth II again would get an award again
(Synth of the year)
i love to handle all the knobs in realtime. I think i never could have this only from a stand-alone software-Synth ( VST).

Re: it's really great!
Thats super LAME!!!!! I spent a lot of time developing patches- god knows with the capabilities this thing has, a guy certainly could spend days routing manglin and perfecting- some of these patches I need to keep for live sets, and dont have time to re-wrie them on the rode- so I have to keep the old os and be left behind... BLASPHEMY!!!!
you have now met your match.... what are you gonna do about it?
