Hmm, it's strange but the update doesn't work. I will investigate and report later.

It's not working without an external card? I cannot upload it via usb directly on the v's "hard disc" (which is visible as a drive via usb)?

EricG: how did you do it? I had to copy the SYRB1.BIN file from previous update to the card along with the 2.0 update files. Does the Mac download have this file?

In case someone misses this file, you can get one at http://v-tribe.info/v-synth/update/SYRB1.BIN

The mac download has two files: "V-synth.rom" and "V-SynthDiskImage.bin" I did not use a card. I just followed the v1.51 "how to update" text found on rolands own pages. In short: Holding down patch pallete 1 button while turning on the V-synth. And then followed the V-synth screen instructions.

In the Mac download:
"V-synth.rom" is 2.2 MB
"V-SynthDiskImage.bin" is 9.4 MB I guess this is stuffed so it actualy contains much more once unpacked in the V-synth.

Are you using the PC-upgrade?

I think these files should be put on V-Synth's system disk, not its data disk (by data disk, I refer to the one which mounts as a USB drive, with the internal project). I think Eric's procedure (holding down patch palette 1 while turning on) gives you access to the system disk indeed.

The new patches are great :-) Shows more of what this synth can do. And more playable sounds for real life, amazing pads & great leads and those v-synth signature sculptureing sounds.

This document could clearify things. Yes I think Watermelon is right. By holding down the palette 1 button you access the "core" of the synth where the OS is.

Oh now I got this, thanks! I haven't ever read the update instructions ;-)

Yes, there are some really killer sounds in there. Notably some pads are simply fantastic!
