Can variOS be used as a vst instrument e.g. the 303 etc? Ive just been offered one really cheap and was wondering if it was worth it.

No, it cannot be used as a VSTi instrument, only as a usual external MIDI instrument. But the interface on the computer allows you to edit all the stuff on the VariOS, so it is *almost* like a VSTi.
