Tribe,
Since I just purchased the XT, I decided to change my studio setup a bit. Just wanted to share this with you all and be open to any feedback.
- I use Logic Pro 7 on Mac (Digi 002 rack) running all the Emagic (Apple now) soft synths, NI Komplete, Albino, Blue, u-he Zebra, EXS24 with 20 gigs of samples and loops and few free AU soft synths.
- I'm running Ableton Live and Reason as "Rewired" slaves to Logic. With templates setup for Live and Reason, where each individual track is routed to different bus. I have also set up Reason to route each Redrum sound to it's own output for maximum flexibilty.
- On the hardware end, Logic is setup as the master controller to my Virus C, Triton ProX, MC-505, Supernova II and ofcourse my V-Synth XT. I have the environments set up for each of these synths except the V-Synth (Still in initial stages but I'm in the process of creating an environment for it)
- All of the above is tracked using my Mackie mixer. I have one of the mix outputs from my mixer going directly into the V-Synth for filter/COSM treatment and to layers sounds from various synths and sample them into V-Synth (BTW, very interesting results).
- I'm thinking about buying a Mac-Intel laptop (I'll wait until the 17" screen version is out) and maybe getting rid of one of my hardware synths (obviously not the XT!)
Any feedback/opinions/comments?
My new setup ... what do you think!
Re: My new setup ... what do you think!
My only comment is that this sounds like a kick-a** setup
For me personally, I mostly use the V-Synth, even though I have a couple of yamaha synths and an emu sampler as well. I found that stripping down and limiting works better for me, I can focus better that way.
regards, Hugo

Everytime I think about simplifying my setup, some awesome peice of hardware (like V-Synth) is released. I can't help it. I think that I can handle parting from my triton/supernova but I can't let go of my V-Synth and Virus. I agree with you Hugo.
Folding socks is a big complicated issue ... any suggestions?

don't mess with it. you need a lot of time to work out how to get that together, and it's not something to just dive into without proper gear. lead shielding and stainless steel tools would be the place to start. check the temp and make sure you don't have an explosion hazard and call osha to check the site out.
