I'm confused what this PC CARD slot can eat.
I have a Sitecom PC Card supports USB and Firewire slots. It is possible to use this card with XT?
I thought that I will be happy with this card and I can use a pendrive or a Firewire external harddrive for XT. The size and pins seem OK but I can't plug the card into the slot, it get stuck...
thanks

PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
The card slot on the XT is purely for accessing flash memory be that compact flash, smart media or whatever. It uses a PCMCIA carrier (obtain one to suit your chosen flash memory format) to adapt various flash memory formats.
The XT does not have (AFAIK) any host intelligence to deal with other PCMCIA devices.

Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
thanks.
today I bought a PC CARD-Adapter.
I copied some wav files to my smart media card and inserted into the Adapter card. I plugged it into the XT switched off. Turn on the module it does not boot and halt at the "Elastic Synthesis" screen. Without the card the XT works well.
What did I forget?

Please try booting the XT and then inserting the card. Then back up the card contents to your computer, format the card on the XT (MODE -> Disk), and copy the data back.
Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
OK, I was just confused because my Wavestation A/D does not like inserting cards while on.
It seems the XT does see the card but when I try formatting
I got the error message "DISK PC Card Not Ready!". It is a 128meg SmartMedia card. Should I try smaller size?

Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
I tried the Adapter with a Secure Digital card (512K) but the result is the same.. PC Card Not Ready...
Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
This is very weird, the first time anyone experiences such a problem. Did you format the card on the V-Synth?

Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
I had a problem writing to a cheap, unbranded SmartMedia card. I got in touch with ROland and they said that you must use a recognised brand of card such as SanDisk or Kingston. And lo and behold, it works! I changed to a SanDisk card and the problem was immediately rectified, and I strongly urge you to do the same.
