yeah the jd has four osc's, but the v-synth is a sampler as well, so once you get a sound you like with two osc's, you can resample it and throw into one osc and make another set as well to mix... the jd I think can be replaced quite easily... if you are getting the xt, then keep the jd around for a controller like you had mentioned as well as a source for sampling into the v-synth- they would make a beutiful pair... I would be willing to say that you won't be dissapointed and if there was a way I could quarantee it I would... you won't be disapointed at all.

North Carolina V-Synth purchase
Hey - I got the key verision from the Music Loft in Greensboro - 1700 for a slightly-used floor model. I got to spend at least a couple hours with it before making the purchase. Believe it or not, they also had an Andromeda-6 and several other nice synths- not too shabby for North Carolina
