Strange hissing sound from the V-Synth

Post by Hugo »

While browsing the internet, I noticed a low hissing sound from the V-Synth. It's not that annoying, but is this normal? Is there something wrong with my unit?

Yes there is something wrong, you shouldn't be able to browse the internet with your V-Synth ;-)

Hehe, that's true. I forgot ;) But seriously, have you noticed this on your unit?

No but I have a lot of ambient background noise to mask just about anything!

Maybe you have a nosiy supply voltage?

Or maybe the display is the source?

Dunno what to suggest

Hmm, I don't know what it could be.. Maybe I should call the dealer too see what he has to say. I did get a demo model, and it's been sitting in the shop for quite a while, so maybe it has been slightly damaged due to demoing or moving around in the store...?
Speaking of which, the pitch bend stick is making this quirky sound when moving it :( But I guess I can live with that as long as it works.

You could try removing all connections and see if the noise is still there. You might also check the supply voltage to your abode...

Hugo,

I noticed this a few days ago and after messing with the power cable connection to the V I was able to make it louder and quiter. Try wiggling the power cable right where it plugs into the V and see what happens.

Anyone know if this is a known issue with Roland Support?

i would always recomend a power conditioner with a voltage regulater and battery backup if you can afford it.

electronics cause a lot of emf noise. monitors and even computers are horrible at causing emf noise on analog circuits. i found that by turning of a fluorecent lamp in my room that i eliminated a hum in my monitors..

ahh to tame this amazing beast of a synth!!!
