My remarks on Steph3dfx▓s thread over at Fantomized:
Cool! No trip pad though. I wonder how much people really use the trip pad? The Roland product demo I have really tries to sell the trip pad...

Once again Artemio gets more life out of a website thanks to Roland keeping a product line alive.

A longer look made me convinced that this is not a hoax.

It obviously has the same specs with the keyboard V-Synth - at least the LCD shows that the sound structure is the same abd I doubt Roland would want to break compatibility with the original V-Synth. Plus the colour screen, and mic input, USB and phones jacks on the front panel.

Hey, this is going to be a great addition to the V-Tribe! ;-)

Found this snippet somewhere while searching for "V-synth Rack" on Google:

Roland V-Synth Rack - V-synth kommer i en 1 HE modul och priset verkar bli runt 14-15000. Samtidigt kommer OS 2.0 till V-synth.

Suppose it's swedish. The price will then be between 1,546 and 1,656 EUR according to this text.

Dunno for sure what language it is but it seems that they're talking about 1 HE heigth. The one in the picture is somewhat larger isn't it?

And does anyone know of a OS version 2.0 coming up for the v-synth?

People over at Harmony Central are beginning to doubt this thing and I have to admit, I am too. Time will tell. NAMM is only 7 days away.

I wonder if the touch screen is also supposed to be used as the trip pad thing?

Maybe they will release it as a V card as well? ;-)

vsynth rack

Post by moogulator »

looks nice but not rolandish ;)
the screen is now coloured and looks quite "fantomized" ;)
some knobs look not much like the vsynth's structure..

but it is on the wishlist..

os updates are possible.. but the vsynth never sold that well..

so we at synthesizerforum.de doubt it ,too ;)
look at the design! I love photoshop I love the sage.. but maybe wishful thinking is the father of this ;)

There is a new member, Slater, over at Harmony Central with the following information on the thread that is linked above in one of my earlier posts:
___________________________________________________
It is NOT a fake.
That is the real picture.

usb streaming of audio thru synth
color touch screen
vocal tools and d50 card built in

Just got the new product line from Roland today in the mail.
Version 3 os for MV8000
Version 2 os for fantom x series
Version 2 os for V-synth
Vocal tools pcmcia card for V synth
___________________________________________________

No discredit to this guy Slater but we all know that Roland can▓t put out a table top product like this without including the D-Beam. ;)

I thought the VARIOS rack was the v-synth in a rack...
As far as I can tell, it's the same sound engine and processor.
Being able to edit it from a computer like a virtual v-synth keboard would be just as handy as this new rack IMHO. I want all the physical controllers or nothing!

I'm very much looking forward to a 2.0 OS for the v-synth!

If the rack has the same engine as the original V-Synth, and no extra things added, then it's certainly not for me. One of the really cool things about the V-Synth are all the controllers, and the great and informative screen.

If it improves on multitimbrality and polyphony, I'm probably still not interested (again thinking about the controllers and superb performance abilities).

Plus I've never liked rack-synths. It should've come as a desktop instead.

well, variOS is very different, it is more a "sequencing" tool that is BASED on the variphrase technology.. but it is far from the vsynth as a whole..

controllers: hey, you can still play it with a nice controller!! the little group of controllers will not fill the vsynth's needs - you'd need to switch between the sections 8 knobs as shown will be enough!!!

I could imagine it works.. but it is a drawback in performance.. but it is a real cool synth!!

for dbeam, landing space for helicopters (the pad!) and controller sets you need to use some controller..
