V-Synth and Windows 8

Post by Hugo »

I'm wondering if anyone have succeeded using the V-Synth and the V-Synth librarian with Windows 8?
Are there compatible usb drivers for Windows 8? I downloaded drivers from roland.com, but couldn't see the V-Synth in Windows Explorer. Also, the librarian wasn't capable of recognising the V-Synth.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

edit: I am talking about the original V-Synth

I don't have a Windows 8 machine with me now, but I think the following to be true:

1- There are no MIDI Drivers for Windows 8 whatsoever, so your DAW can't recognise the V-Synth if it's connected via USB for MIDI. If is connected via a compatible MIDI/USB interface (there are many out there like the UM-ONE Mk2), it can still be used with any OP System.

2- The V-Synth Librarian does run under Windows 8 (Compatibility Mode). The Librarian does not have to recognise the V-Synth, as it doesn't work like that. The Librarian deals with Project and Patch files on the Computer. Then the composed project(s) need to be copied to the V-Synth using the USB (DATA) function from the V-Synth's Main MENU.

I hope this helps

Ahh, excellent!
I was under the impression that the librarian had to read the projects from the V-Synth, but when I think about it, what you say definately makes sense.

Thanks a lot, PauloF! :D
