Jim Stout Sound Archive online now

Post by cello »

Hi everyone - for those watching this thread viewtopic.php?f=17&t=45070 apologies for the delay in getting these great Jim Stout sounds online available for download - there are over 2,100 sounds!!

Huge thanks go to SoundworldA.D. for sharing the sounds he had (and also adding extra tones to make unique sounds from the v1, v2, XT and GT analog as well as this collection) and also for his great support whilst I converted the .prj to GTv2 friendly ones. Thanks also go to b3keys for sharing the sounds he had too. Neither had to share the sounds with us, but their kindness in doing so should be acknowledged by us all.

Final thanks must of course go to Jim Stout, who created the sounds in the first place and shared them freely! I have tried to contact him to secure permissions to make these available but have no reply to the email addresses I could find for him. Please be aware that if he requests to remove them, then I have to comply as they are his work.

Okay, the download website is HERE.

Please use this thread if you have any questions or comments about the sounds.

Finally, we hope you thoroughly enjoy using the sounds - or evolving them into your own new ones! ;)

Alright lads! Let's start hearing those amazing V-Synth tones and tunes coming at us like an avalanche! I know the feeling Igor...I haven't had a good nights sleep in weeks since this started! I'm hearing V-Synth patches in my dreams!

Time to get Jupiterized on the way to Cyberia whilst morphing through Saturn's Rings and visiting the Formanteers on Mars!

Thanks for this... It's funny that as soon as I get interested in the v-synth again as a synth and not just a sound card, this is going on here on the forum... Downloading now.. Can't wait to listen to these! Thanks again!

Hello Mr. Cello

I Have a V-Synth ver2.0/VC-1.
I see that only 2 proyects (Granular & Cello) are compatible for V-Synth 2.0/XT, the other proyects are compatible for V-Synth GT.
You will upload more proyects for V-Synth 2.0/XT?

Thank you very much.

MR. cello! I like that!

Mr. Murdock, I will be sending Mr cello my XT sets as soon as I get home and have faster internet access. I made two Soundworld sets specifically for the XT, "PushTheBeat" which focuses more on ARP patches and Melodic Sequences, and, "PadOcean" which as the name implies is more focused on those massive V-Synth pads.

I had originally tried to build one "super set" with all of the above but would get a "Memory Full" error when I tried to load the project. I think there may be a limit of 20Meg or so in the XT.

Anyway, there is a good collection of patches on the sets that I built with existing V2, Stout Collection, and even some Soundworld edit patches like TC Flang3d, Delayer and Depth Charge.

Enjoy!

Ah, "Mr Cello" - I like that too! ;)

As SoundworldA.D. says above he will be doing that soon. As I have only the GTv2 I can't test for compatibility with other V-Synths - but SoundworldA.D. has the XT (probably others as well!) so he can test. It may be possible that the original files he sent me were V-Synth 2/XT compatible... I'll check with him.

If that's the case I will upload the other ones and add a column to the website stating what unit the sounds are compatible with.

Hope you enjoy the sounds so far :)

That's kind of you to say, but main thanks must go to Mr SoundworldA.D. as he is raiding his collection to share with us - I'm only converting them to GTv2 (if required) and then hosting them on my server

I've updated the download site to include XT versions - this is work in progress, so please bear with me!

There are two new soundsets which SoundworldA.D. has compiled - standard sounds plus his selection of the great pads and beatz orientated sounds. XT versions have been uploaded for those as well as GTv2 ones.

Wow, top initiative - appreciate that. I am interested in the V-Synth XT files, too. Can't wait to try them. Thank you so much for all the energy you have invested in this project.

Most welcome to everyone but this turned into a labor of love as it enabled me to get much closer and deeper into my two V_Synths than ever before and really appreciate what fine instruments they are. The programming is so intuitive and logical and is a joy to play around with to create new and exciting sounds.

A few weeks ago I did an Ambient tune named "Desert Moon" that featured the "Cyberia" patch from my XT and I was amazed that it only used one OSC to get all of this rich evolving sound. Such is the unique sound tapestry available from the V's.

Gads! I don't even know me own tunes there matey! The song with "Cyberia" was actually named "Moon Rise." I think one of the other patches I used was named Desert Moon hence the confusion on my part. Either that or I'm just getting old!
