Hi,
I am a bed room music maker and make music when I am free. I love making dance music like Trance / House and sometimes R&B. Got M3, Sonic Cell and FF800 audio interface and a Pair of Yammy Monitors
Bought the XT 2.5 yrs ago and seldom program it because of my skill is not that strong. And in the past 2 years, I started to play with various VA soft synth and had a better idea on those terms such as ADSR/LFO/ENV techo-terms.
Last weekend, I re-powerup XT and started to program it. Be honest, all I can say is :
"to program XT is easy but to get the sweet result is though".
Just leave the sampling aside, to program it just choose wav-form list and follow the buttons starting from left to right (at the very bottom of the screen - Comm/OSC1/OSC2 etc ...). I feel like I am doing a trial and error approach to get my sound right. And sometimes, I found that one of the most powerful feature of XT - Comm1 / Comm2 always make me cry. They make my sounds blur/dark or in simple words sound coming from a closed paper box. Anyway, I will not giving it up and will reference to those "sound shaper" and see how they create a sound. Or may be even better, I need to ask if I would like to make a basssy sound/padz sound/bell sounds - What kind of wav should I pick ?
I played Radias-R this Monday for an hour. Love it and the price is just right to me. Very easy to program and very easy to tweak the sound thanks for those knobs. 4 Timers and 1 finger to "get into the grooveeee" Yeah ! Very strong step / mod sequencer though I still couldn't figure out how to use it (without a manual). My first impression is : it is a enhanced version of EM1x + lots of sounds and features.
Question: Do I need to buy one to complement my XT ? Pls Note that I already have EXB-Radias and Love it. The rack version has some features which EXB don't have. Decision & Decision.
Thanks for reading.

Re-visit my XT (with thought of Radias-R)
Re: Re-visit my XT (with thought of Radias-R)
I can't really say why you're not getting any good results out of your XT, probably you haven't learnt about synthesis enough yet. V-Synths are the most powerful instruments you can buy, they can make simply amazing sounds, especially when you use VariPhrase on samples.
If you want, check out the V-Synth Tweakbook, which will get you started with what the XT can do:

Re: Re-visit my XT (with thought of Radias-R)
You need to learn more about synthesis.
Comm is COSM, which is the 'Filter' section of the V's. Filters are used to shape sounds and take away frequencies, hence with a Low Pass Filter it allows Low Frequencies to pass through, thus giving you, your paper box effect.
If you're into dance music, it is a common trick ; )
I can assure you, the V is way more powerful than the Radias once you learn to program it.

guys,
Thanks for your replies and very positive encouragement!
For TVA, I have a question about ADSR.... When ever I set the A to "0" (zero) and then I play any key .. I can hear the pop / click sound. Why ? The Pop / click noise goes away when I set it > 5.
Is it normal ?

Re: Re-visit my XT (with thought of Radias-R)
cowby: The Attack time (A) sets the time that is needed for the OSC's volume to get from 0 to the volume you've set in Sustain level (S). So, if you set it to 0, the volume is in its maximum setting from the begining. If the sound contains some percussive element, it's heard from the begining, that's why you hear the pop/click. If you set Attack time to a value of 5 for instance, then the attack doesn't have the time to get heard, so the pop/click doesn't get heard.
If you try and raise the Attack even more, you'll notice the sound being even smoother, and if you go even further, the patch will be quite slow in response.
