Well, after all my incessant blabbering about how great my VirusTI sounds, I've got to say . . . I play my GT's "240:COSM Saw AP" patch like CRAZY! I just can't get enough of that AP saw action! It's soooooooooooo "slippery" sounding! It seems like the GT is all I play now. I laid down some nice bass tracks from my Radias, real fat and saw-ey like. A drum beat from my Fantom, and away I go on the GT . . . for hours! I can't get enough of that AP saw, I tell ya!
Oh, forgot to mention, it's actually the very first factory patch: "001: Lights on Me" that I'm talking about. "240:COSM Saw AP" is just the name of the "Upper Tone" in the patch (which has the cool "AP" part to it).

Ya... I would also love to here an mp3... (I wish my local GC had a V-synth to play with...)

Oh, sure, no problem! How/where do I put it? If I upload it to my website, can I link the actual file here using the [url] tag, and will you be able to hear/download it?
Re: V-Synth GT "240:COSM Saw AP" Patch Kicks Ass!
Okay, I was gonna make JUST a 240:COSM Saw AP demo, just soloed, but I made a "song" instead (32 measures). There's a Virus bass line and pad, plus some other stuff. But the lead is pure 240:COSM Saw AP!
So, the easiest thing for me to do is to upload it to my myspace site—I just have to get rid of one of my four songs already up there. Give me a minute to upload this . . .

Okay, got rid of one. This new COSM track is up. It's track 06, called, "Wire," and features the Roland V-Synth GT's 240:COSM Saw AP patch doing the leads. Check it out, and let me know what you think! Any comments, good, and ESPECIALLY bad, are welcomed!
Aw crap, I just added some Fantom strings and stuff—just can't leave well enough alone. Oh well, it's the first lead that's the AP saw. Well, the AP saw really got buried in the mix after the myspace compression. Plus, I went a little wild with the mod wheel . . . Oh well, that's what "skipback sampling" will do for ya! (I used the skipback feature on the Fantom recorder to capture that lead). Meaning, I would likely never get that whacky on an actual "take."
P.S. Also, note that track 05, "Fuzz," (the first song listed) is performed using 100% Korg Radias' sounds (except for rhythm track).

the GT lead sound seems to be very good, but it's far far behind the other intruments (volume of it really too low). thank you anyway for sharing, really appreciated. thanx

Re: V-Synth GT "240:COSM Saw AP" Patch Kicks Ass!
Yeah, I've got to redo that anyway. That was just a chance, "skipback" recording. It really doesn't show that patch off properly. You need to hear the 'AP" part clearer to appreciate it. Thanks for checking it out!
Re: V-Synth GT "240:COSM Saw AP" Patch Kicks Ass!
From the sound of the COSM saw patch, i imagine the GT is very well suited for film soundtracks. I like the strings added in to compliment the mix. Bring on the saw!
Re: V-Synth GT "240:COSM Saw AP" Patch Kicks Ass!
Yeah, I'm starting to make more soundtrack-ey stuff now. The strings are from the Fantom-X' SRX board, however. I wanted a lot of texture, so I bought very different synths (I have a Virus and a Radias, as well). I recently uploaded Track 07, "Space," to my myspace page which starts with a Radias arp, then a Virus bass, then one of the GT's combo patchs on top of everything, and another background Virus arp.
Thanks to having four different sound modules, I have a LOT to choose from, as far as contrasting sound characters. The Korg Radias is probably the most fun to add to the mix, since it's so, um, "twinkly" sounding. Really stands out. But the Radias can also make some really neat, saw-ey basses. The Virus makes really unique, awesome sounds. The GT has wonderful pads, and very fun lead patches, as does the Fantom-X. I haven't programmed any GT patches yet myself, however. Can't wait until I learn how to!
Too late to make that AP saw demo for ya. Maybe tomorrow!
