Re: V SYNTH GT
Holy crap! Congrats! You may be the first on the forum. Pardon me for not answering your question as I do not have an MV...
Could you post some samples of factory patches? If you do this, it would be more than what Roland has done so far.
Meanwhile, I hope you get your question answered.

Re: V SYNTH GT
If your just talking about sequencing on one just MIDI out rrom GT to MIDI in on MV. Then MIDI out from MV to MIDI in on GT. Congradulations! How is it?

Re: V SYNTH GT
All I can say is that V-Synth plus MV is a truly dream setup. Isolate yourself from loads of gear, stay in a comfy place with just these two babes, and you will see yourself you don't need anything else.
Re: V SYNTH GT
Something was wrong with the one i ordered. Most of the preets sounded mismatched and awful, did a Factory reset but it still sounded messed up, should i return?

Re: V SYNTH GT
Here' a cool MV/ V-Synth trick.
Use the Stop Trigger Samping function in the MV to make perfect loops of the V-Synth GT.
Here's how.
1. Slave the V GT to the MV via MIDI and connet the output of the V to the input of the MV
2. Press SAMPLING and change the Start Trigger to PAD
3. Change the Stop Trigger to BEAT. It should defualt to 8 beats (2 measures)
4. Play a pad set to the MIDI note # you want. You may have to change pad banks to get to a useable note #.
5. Start Sampling and then hit the pad/note you want to sample, hold it down for the 8 beat duration.
The MV will stop sampling after 8 beats and you will have a perfect 2 measure loop. No need to truncate or find loop points! You can drop it to an Audio Track and repeat the process!

V-Synth GT Patches
It sounds like you just don't like the cauldron Roland has concocted. I went through all the patches this weekend and I don't think I could fill the 64 locations for faster access with what I noted as being usable or to my taste. I modified some of the patches by changing the tone I didn't like. I already own a V-Synth, so I sort of knew what to expect - virtually two V-Synths - so by Monday I went to Radio Shack and got a SanDisk 256MB USB Flash Drive (Memory Key - same thing) for $10 and copied the version 2 projects I had from the V-Synth. I was then able to Convert the project, which loads it into memory immediately, so make sure if you have messed around with some Patches and don't want to start from scratch with a Factory Reset - BACK THEM UP (easily done onto the USB drive or even into your computer). Unfortunately, until Roland comes up with a V-Synth GT Librarian, you will not be able to mix and match patches between projects. I was able to load in the version 2 project from my V-Synth and the Patches remained unchanged, but now I have these same Patches as Tones (Upper) and I can select any other 'tone' (Patch in reality) and load it into the lower Tone. I have matched some 15 or so Patches by taking other 'Tones' and tweaking them to sound INCREDIBLE when played together. This is a must for GT owners. You should be able to download the version 2.x patches & waves from this Roland site (it was here when they issued the new OS a few years ago, but then again, this site wasn't working for a few days last week and suddenly it's up again today). You should be able to take the version 2 project and load it into your USB drive (no V-Synth necessary) in a directory names 'XT' and then remove the USB drive from the computer BY EJECTING IT FIRST, plug it into the GT and press Utility and select 'Project' where the options are to Load, Save or Convert. That's what you select, 'Convert' and click the two OKs and you should find these Patches loaded with the same Upper Tone installed, as well. I didn't have to do much 'programming' of the 'tone/patches', as I just went about auditioning the various other tones in the lower tone location and there are some amazing combos that are bound to get the adrenaline flowing. I matched 'V-Scream' with a pad and playing softly, there is no hint of the screaming tone until I suddenly start playing harder, and then you have this pad underneath the wailing guitar. It's just enough to make me want to keep playing (I forgot to take my painkiller meds yesterday, I was so into the 'matchmaking')!
Today, though, I was a bit disappointed, as I spent a few hours trying to convert the version 2.0 work around project that included the original V-Synth's compatible patches, which it seems are NOT compatible with the GT. It looks like I may have to keep the V-Synth after all, as I see them going for under a thousand on eBay, even with the Vocoder Card (which I have). I have already added several GT tracks to a set of four MetaSynth tracks in Live and the possibilities are endless. Thankfully I am off for the summer, as I teach high school English. This could be the year I tell the students who I really am, as I move on to full time musical mastering...I am, Otto von Ruggins, Master of the Unheard Øf
