Manual says: VariOS using USB, no midi needed.....

So the Manual for the VariOS is telling me that I connect the VariOS to the computer using a USB and that I can control it with the keyboard that way. How is this possible if there is no midi cables connected to the variOS, is midi then sent via USB???

I am using a Emu 1820m as my sound-card and it has midi ports, but I'm using my midi keyboard to control VSTi synths thru the sound card.

mid data travels over usb cable.

also, samples are loaded over usb cable.


there are midi I/O on the back , and you could choose to use them if you wish.
