You can have up to 4 samples layered on 1 pad in the MC-808. This is done by use of the 808 editor.
Open the MC-808 editor
Open a new Rhythm Kit , on part 1 ( then initialize it )
click on edit in the same channel strip lane of the kit.
click on Wave / Pitch
Press pad 1 on the MC-808 to select it at the source to edit
Youll see the Tone 1 - 4 in the edit page now
Turn on all the SW Tone Switches ( to turn them on , they will light up blue )
Now for Tone 1 , under wave group , change it from INTERNAL to SAMPLE and the location where your samples are USER or CARD.
Now right below that under WAVE NUMBER , select your sample you want for TONE 1 ( ie: Kick 1 )
Now do these same steps for TONE 2 and so forth to layer that Kick drum with another sample.
Now when your done , and ready to move on to the next pad , press PAD 2 on the MC-808 to select it and now repeat all the steps above.
After your all done save the Rhythm Kit with a new name and onto your Compact Flash Card.
Roland is still one of the ONLY companies that offers FULL FREE Tech Support on ALL our products including legacy classics like the Juno 60 , Jupiter 6 & 8 , the old TR drum machines all the way to our new current products. Including video tutorials online.
We dont charge you after 90 days like some companies.
Now if somebody couldnt help you , chances are there was miscommunication or a misunderstanding of what you were trying to achieve.
Either way you still had a number to call and get help and theres plenty of resources here at this forum as well.
Hope this helps
