Juno-G v. GW7 - D-Beam Newbie Question

Post by saxgal58 »

Hi All,
Fairly new to Juno-G so please bear with me.
I have a GW7 workstation and am able to set the D-Beam to two separate 'effects' (limited pre-defined sound effects, and/or tone/pitch effects).
On trying this with my Juno-G, I can't figure out a way to set the beam to an individual effect (ie. I need a telephone ring at a specific point in a song.....and a thunderstorm) - --
Yes, I've read the manual ad nauseum, and FAQ's. I'm not 'getting it'.
The only way I can figure how to do it is to assign a patch to a particular part, featuring just one note, and another one-note part for the thunderstorm.
Thus, my question is - is assigning a 'sound effect' to the D-Beam possible, as on the GW7??
Thanks!
Julie, Toronto.

I'm not sure if this can be done. Roland's D-Beam is found on many levels of their keyboards. You can see it on their lower line arrangers, and on the top end synths. However, the functions differ between models. What you can control on say a Roland E-09, and GW-7 may differ from the control functions found on the synths.

The D-beam itself can be set to a controller, like 01 MODULATION or 02 BREATH. Then, within a patch, you define what parameter this controller adjusts (MATRIX CONTROL section in the patch editor). This way you can make each patch respond to the D-beam differently.
