like if your playing in patch mode it will sound one way, then if you are trying to record playing the same patch, that patch would sound a little different? like a little muddier?
i get it heaps!!!
depending on what im doing sometimes the grand piano sounds really different. it happens with all the patches though.
it might have been discussed before but i just thought it bring it up.

If you are talking about the difference between patch and performance mode it is in the manual why some patches sound different. It has something to do with the way the effects are handled between the two modes.

In patch mode a patch is played with its MFX settings. In performance mode you have to set what parts will have MFXs attached. It's so because there are 16 parts but only 3 MFXs (actually it's the same as in FantomX). So you have to compromise and you will not get more than 3 patches sounding the same as in patch mode (except a situation where a patch originally doesn't use MFX at all).
To set it up push performance button. choose "PARTVIEW" menu, go to "OUTPUT" menu and use "Asgn" tab to set parts to chosen MFXs (1,2 and 3). Then go to the "FX SRC" menu and set which parts will use the same MFX parameters as in patch mode.
