I'm new to this forum but I couldn't help replying your messages on this topic. I got my Juno-G this weekend and..... It also happened to me..
I'm not giving up on this fine piece of gear, since I moved on from an Alesis 6.1, but this really annoys me.
I live in Brazil and I was a bit astonished that you are also getting the same problem. It must not be a batch problem, since I hear people everywhere with the same issue.
Just a check: Mine is produced in Japan (at least that's what's on the package). Is also yours from Japan?
I'm contacting Roland as soon as I can. I kindly ask that if anyone gets an answer from Roland, please inform us right away.

So we can say that the problem has been found really everywhere... I'm more and more surprised that nobody at Roland noticed it during the tests.
Mine should be made in japan even if, both on the instrument chassis and on the package, "Made in Japan" is written on a sticker that is pasted above "Made in China".
Could it be that... being a low-cost product it has not been completely developed by Roland? Maybe they just gave the specs and the sound engine to a chinese company... then maybe they encountered some problems and moved the production back to japan, but they did not want to throw away packages and chassis that had been already made.
Ok, this is just imagination... anyway, the wrong "made in china" is a fact (of course it could just be an error of the person that designed the packages), and everyone will agree that this sustain pedal bug should have been absolutely noticed in a company like Roland. We're talking of one of the most experineced keyboard manufacturer in the world!
Hope it is not a hw problem... they could choose not to fix it, if it is too expensive... then I don't know what would happen... and I cannot wait for too many months, I have to use the Juno for the live gigs I bought it for!

Sustain Juno-G Problem
I bought a Juno G last weekend in Spain and I got no problem with sustain pedal. It's been working OK up until now. I had already read the messages here and went to the shop with intentions of checking it up and not buying it in case it had that problem. I "abused" the Juno G and never got that problem, so I decided to buy it. So far it's been working perfect. The soft version it has is 1.05 and the pedal I am using is Roland Pedal Damper DP10.

Really, I don't know what to think. Still we don't know if it is a software bug or a hardware problem of a (quite large) batch.
I think I'll wait 'till the end of january, then, if Roland does not tell us anything I'll start considering giving the keyboard back...

i still dont have a problem with mine...im using a dp8 with the juno g...is it a really obvious problem?

Well, I think that if you regularly use the pedal you should have noticed..
I reviewed this thread: we have 9 users that reported the problem, and 2 users saying that they don't have it.
These two users are using a Roland DP8 and a DP10 pedal.
So I want to ask:
- to the 9 users that have the problem: what pedal are you using? Are you using a DP8 or DP10 pedal?
- to the 2 users that do not have the problem: are you using the "half pedal" option with DP/8/10? Do you also have a switch pedal to try with the switch pedal and check?
It seems strange to me, because a sitch pedal is just an on/off switch, so I can't figure out why it should work with DP8/10 and not with any other pedal, unless it is related to the fact that DP8/10 are continuous pedals. After all, it's a bug, so everything is possible.

Hi! I'm using a DP2 over here, so no half dampening...
What I have just noticed is that I don't know if the default settings in the juno are for a halfpedal or not. Perhaps the problem is that by default it's specting a continous pedal, and works incorrectly with switch pedals...
I've downloaded the manual and it's not clear which is the default setting. On the pictures it shows the continous pedal as off, but the default value is not specified anywhere. I'll check it out tonight when I arrive home and I'll let you know.

What a pity! The chance of being a configuration problem gave me some hopes
We'll have to wait for a solution from Roland.
Anyway, It should be interesting to know from everyone with the problem, what kind of pedal are the using.

I'm using a DP6 pedal, I think. I bought it a few years ago and there's nothing in the pedal indicating the model.
I'm in touch with the folks from Roland Brazil and trying to figure out how to get it to work perfectly.

Sustain Pedal Problem here as well
Update: Sorry for taking so long to post this. I spoke again with Roland support and it is now a known issue and the engineers are trying to isolate the problem. It was brought up during NAMM in side conversations and the technical guys were just made aware of it.
Unfortunatly, we still do not know if this is software or hardware related.
I ended up taking my Juno-G back and bought a Fantom X7 and that seemed to fix the problem for me at least

I recently purchased the Juno-G, having the same exact issues with the sustain pedal not holding the notes intermittently. I'm on my second Juno- G, and it's not NEAR as bad as the first board but still a very noticable and annoying issue especially when used live. I've tried 3 different DP-8 pedals on both boards. DP-8 is built like a tank, and has never let me down but the problem yet persists.
I spoke to Roland Support (U.S. support as I'm based in Seattle, WA), and the tech that I spoke to hadn't personally heard of the problem, but he was very knowledgable and promised to get to the bottom of this.
With NAMM happening next week, every Roland tech is required to be there as well as their engineering staff from all over the world. He assured me he would get to the bottom of this issue and determine if it's a software fix, or if Roland is having a deeper issue with the hardware.
Software fixes are fine by me, but if it's a fundemental hardware issue, there is NO WAY I am able to keep this board which is a pity as it sounds fantastic!
I am scheduled to talk with my tech two weeks from today on 1/22/07 and will let you know what the outcome is.

I am NOT getting the sustain problem with my G. I am using some cheapo Roland pedal, not sure exactly which one it is.
Are there some patches in particular that reveal this problem?
I've used strings, organs, pianos, etc.

Problem in Australia too
hey guys, I live in Australia and i've noticed this bug on my 1st juno-g sometimes too. I say 1st because ive had my juno g replaced with entirely new ones twice now so that puts me on my 3rd. The main problem ive been having is the keyboard being out of tune every now and then whch is highly annoying as well as the sustain issue. I emailed roland and they said they wern't aware of the issue so everyones needs to email them and let them know so something can be done.
I really like juno g (when it works) although im considering gettin my money back and buyin either another brand or a fantom xa.
