So I see screen failure posts, and notice 3 Juno Gs on ebay for parts only... is it really just the first generation of Juno Gs that had issues? Do they hold up OK on the road?
I ask cause I bought a used one that must have gotten damaged in shipping, so I'm sending it back, but I wonder about a replacement... it has many features that I like but I don't want to have service issues with it.
Just first generation?
Re: Just first generation?
There used to be a thread tracking the first digits of the serial #'s. We need to get that as a sticky post again.
Back to your question, there was a definite trend in problem screens reported that pointed towards a window of time where they were in fact bad. Unfortunately, we need still need more data to be sure and there are the few people(literally two on my count) that have replaced them multiple times.
I see no problem with taking it on the road, as in, you're more likely screwed either way.
There are Roland Service Centers all over the place in the states tho and my experience getting it repaired was top-notch.

Re: Just first generation?
The incidence of failures seem to be greater with the early batches, however failures have been seen across the board (sic) .. My display goes screwy in the summer with heat and humidity but is fine in the winter.. I am just gonna get a spare screen and suck it up.. There is no decent alternative still to the juno g (imo)
Re: Just first generation?
almost makes one wonder if the screens were designed to fail. ; \
The last great workstation sabotaged from the start, but hey I'm partial and still open to a Juno-G-PT-III.
Aren't the screens only like $60-80 USD? Labor rates are what makes it a pain out of warranty.

Re: Just first generation?
read some threads on serial issues, seems ZU5-9, ZW, and some AX had probs, and prob others. Is this a design issue where you WILL have a prob someday? is there anyone who have had one for many years without issue?
Re: Just first generation?
Had mine for almost 3 years now and it is a permanent part of my live rig. I gig with it most weekends and rehearse a couple of times a week so it gets moved around a lot. No screen issues (YET) but the Mod/Bend lever went screwy. I swapped it out for the one in my old Juno D (exactly the same part) and all is well again. Fingers crossed 'cause I would hate to lose this board.
