Juno G screens

Post by johnsmith »

hello,

I am interested in the Roland Juno G. I read that many Juno G screens broke from different people.

Therefore my question is:
Is there a difference between the screens of old produced Juno G`s (from 2006) and the screens of newer produced Juno G`s (from 2010)?

In other words: Did Roland try to make the screens better/more reliable in newer models?

Or are all produced Juno G`s the same?

John,
there was a bad batch of old machines that had a high failure rate, and newer ones are better, but still not perfect, and i would certainly factor in at least buying one spare display over a 4yr life..but since the Juno G is selling new for $700 it is a complete bargain.

so it would be better to buy a new Juno G instead of a used Juno G, because the new Juno G`s probably have better/more reliable screens?

by the way: how do you know this? Do you work for Roland? ;)

I don't think anyone here works for Roland, but many people have had their board serviced.

As for buying new or used, here in the states I would say new is better as the LCD is covered under warranty. I'm not sure if that would still apply buying used - as often such voids the agreement.

Was it a bad batch? The majority seem to be a certain set of serial numbers, but there are exceptions as well.

ok thanks for the information

what do you people think is the best serial number for Juno G regarding displays?

Which serial number Juno G`s have the most reliable displays?

i don't know what batch of screens are faulty or not...but i am pissed that i am about to have my screen replaced after putting a new one just last year of august...nothing wrong with the display actually...it's just that the backlight died...just called up roland service center here in the Philippines...they tell me that it is part of the display and it had to be replaced...OMG!!! i hope this is not an annual event...i think they should come up with a program on the computer that allows us to see what exactly is on the juno screen...including live setting....just pissed!!!

im a fan of the Roland sound and I want a small workstation like the Juno G

but because I have read all these problems with the screens, I think I will buy a Korg Triton LE instead?

the triton LE is even older technology than the Juno G..no?.. so if you wish to go korg why not look at the m50?

i looked at it but i found it to be very flimsy construction, particularly the keys and felt that the JG is the better made machine..

the Triton LE is indeed older than the Juno G and I prefer Roland sounds, but the Triton LE is more builded reliable I think, I never heard people having problems with the Triton LE, never heard of broke displays etc

the M50 has a touch screen, I dislike touch screens

if anyone can convince me that the newer Juno G`s have better screens, then I buy a Juno G. But if that is not the case, then I think I will buy a Korg LE or Korg TR
