Copy effect from patch mode to performance mode

Post by phantrongvu »

Hi,

I'm new to Roland-G. I've just got it for few days. Is there any simple way to copy effect from patch mode to performance mode. I did read the Micro User Manual, but I can't follow.

Thanks for any help :-)

The micro manual includes a screenshot - have a careful look at it.

HI,

Thanks for answering. The micro says "using one of the free three MFX units". Does that mean I can only have up to 3 effects assigned to each of 3 parts of performance mode? How about if I setup a performance with more than 3 patches?

Hi,
you can set routing for each part of the performance and decide which of the three MFXs will be applied in that routing. So you can make performance from all 16 parts and then in the routing screen of each part set MFX1, MFX2, MFX3 or leave the part without the MFX.

I don't know how to do the routing. Can you teach me how?

Thanks

Hi,
sorry for the delay....i didn´t check the messages yesterday :)
So about the routing......while in the performance mode, press the effect button (EDIT section of the JUNO-G)......the routing screen will appear.
In this screen you can see how the part is routed through the effects (Reverb, Chorus, MFX, Master)....and of course you can edit each of these effects.
On the left you can see which part of the performance you are currently editing and under the information about the part, there is the output......here you can set the patch to be sent to the output A, B, 1, 2, or through the MFX .......and then decide which MFX (1, 2 or 3)
Make sure that the MFXs you wish to use are switched on (these are ON by default)....you can switch them ON/OFF in the same screen.....in the right bottom corner of the screen.....SWITCH button.
I hope this was useful....have a nice day:)

thanks very much,

I'll see if I can follow. I'm very new to synthesizer, particularly, effects and stuffs like that. Is there anyway I can learn more about those things?

Thanks again.

You´re welcome :)
You can still check the manual....but it is quite difficult to understand if you´re new to synths.....IMO the best way to learn is to keep exploring the screens and trying what different buttons do :) ....you will learn a lot yourself....and if you get stuck somewhere....so you can´t do what you would like to....write it here :) ....or via the email.....i´m also still finding out new features and possibilities :-P .....but i can help with what i know:)

One thing left out about the routing screen, is that if you want to pull the FX settings from Patch Mode over to the instrument in Performance Mode, you need to scroll two clicks to the right where it probably says "PRF" and change that to "P #" corresponding to the track number of whichever patch effects you want to use. Of course, this is after you select Output = MFX, MFX Sel = 1, 2, or 3.

If that didn't confuse you enough.

Try searching "Effect Routing" in Juno-G forum and you should find more than enough to be an expert on it all.

I'd suggest reading the manual from cover to cover repeatedly until some of it starts to make sense.

i have done all the things u guys said but unfortunately it`s not done. I made a patch "searing cosm". In the effect setting area MFX is set to GTRAMPSIM chorus to DELAY & reverb to SRV HALL. but when it transfered to performance mode the MFX works but if the chorus settings is remain DELAY (as it was in patch mode) it affects all the other 15 parts in the performance. so the other sounds are changed.if it`s no DELAY in chorus the guiter sound changed. what is the solution......

the chorus and reverb affect all parts, so, there is no easy solution. you don't have to route all of them through the chorus/delay effect. do you really need a chorus effect on every part?

you can also chain two insert effects together for your guitar: guitar amp + delay. then , you won't have to use the common chorus/delay effect

The answer to this, if necessary, is to resample the track into audio. That will free up your MFX, chorus, and reverb for other parts.

go to the Structure screen (page 130 of the manual) - you will see how your 3 insert effects are connected. go through structure types and find the one that chains mfx1 and mfx2, for example.
