Reliable Vendor for RAM

Post by avantgrrl »

I'm shopping for 512 MB RAM card for my Juno-G. Does anyone know of a good vendor with good prices? I've seen ultra-cheap prices on eBay. Other websites seem to have really high prices!

I'd stay away from e-bay you don't know what you're getting, anything else is fine but you shouldn't fool with memory (could be someone selling defective ram, or not have the right spec info). Your best option is to go with any popular online reseller using Kingston or Crucial memory, both sites sell generic memory. As a reseller I like Kingston because if product doesn't work, it's an easy return for my clients.

Memory shouldn't be too high though it's older technology so prices for this memory would probably be higher than a notebook memory 1gb that can run as low as $12 each due to supply and demand.

May be a bit pricey but the 512 is worth it, it serves a much bigger function on the Juno G than on a laptop or pc.

I bought my ram from my friend.. it's from some old PC and it works great :) I guess even when prices are low, you should try! If it meets requirements

1GB DIMM for Juno-G

Post by rhodespiano »

My fantom-XR, fantom-X, juno-G, Mc-808 successfully recognize 1GB DIMM SDRAM (VIA original, PC133, cl3 made in Taiwan)

(My Juno G also recognizes 2GB CF PC card)

The price of 1GB DIMM in our shop is 150 US Dollar

Quite brilliant. Too bad I don't have a 1gb DIMM hiding about.
That's mad prices tho, I paid about $10 USD for my 512mb. Odd.

I wonder why noone else has noticed their 2gb CF recognized(it's not in your picture?).

@rhodespiano - That's cool that the Juno-G recognizes your 1GB DIMM. Have you confirmed that it really allows you to use all of that memory? In other words, have you tried recording more than 102 minutes 13 seconds of mono (or 51 minutes 7 seconds of stereo) audio with it?

@lawndart:

He's using a Fathom-XR not a Juno-G. I wonder if Juno-G would work. I'm sure it could handle it but Roland probably limits it in the code to not accept it. Kinda like how the Juno-G couldn't sample before and now it can with an OS update.

Roland: why the limit if the hardware can handle it?

MichaelB - his first post says he's using a 1GB DIMM in his Juno-G also.

Who manufactures the 1G DIMM that works with the JUNO-G. Where can I purchase it?

Thanks,
