Re: Help connecting Fantom G8 to Mac OS 10.6.2
Set the fantom G in studio mode, choose your palette of sounds there and in Sibelius use the same midi input number as output number.

Re: midi through USB... is it possible?
make sure in the system settings that MIDI is transmitted via the USB cable, not the MIDI cable.

Re: Problem with polyphony, need help
hey gil,
I think the 'crackling' sound is actually a note cut off by the machine to give room for a new note. When a waveform suddenly stops you hear that kind of crackling. i.e. when you cut an audiofile and didn't pay attention to the start of the wave you'll hear the same.

Re: Problem with polyphony, need help
I don't have access to my fg7 but here are some things that instantly come to mind:
go to the master effects section and insert a hard limiter.
go to sound settings in the system menu and set the system volume to -6db.
does it still clip?

Re: Bad FG: live mode-studio mode switching?
<t>maybe a failing model?<br/> <br/> I've used my fantom G7 alot for gigs too. It even fell on its side once (while it was still in its flightcase, luckily). Never had an issue about sudden live mode switching/pink noise/semitones. I've actually never had an issue before.<br/> <br/> There was this o...

<t>what VST intruments are you using?<br/> <br/> I use NI B4 II on a macbook with 4GB memory and I can put the latency as low as 8ms. I've set the buffersize as small as possible in the driver's settings, otherwise I still had to put it on 11ms.<br/> <br/> I can't hear any difference in delay if the...

<t>Have you tried other piano patches than G-Grand? I mainly use Super NY-Grand.<br/> <br/> I gig about once a month with my band and for our music the piano suffices. I mean it's a live instrument and for live purposes the piano's are just fine. Onstage they actually sound pretty awesome and they s...

yeah I also think the synth section could actually use an improvement. Most of the patches are kind of lame and unusable in today's electronic music.

fantom g and native instruments B4 in a live situation
<t>I am trying to get the best results for using the fantom g together with native instruments B4 on a macbook. Right now I got the fantom G hooked up with the laptop via a usb cable and am using the fantom G as the audio/midi interface. It works great and I can put the latency as low as 12ms for sm...

Re: Fantom G sympathetic resonance?
<t>the sympathetic resonance should only kick in if used with a sustain pedal.<br/> <br/> that said, it's a VERY subtle effect indeed... maybe just don't "try" to hear any difference. You should save a piano patch without the resonance effect, then edit the patch to have resonance, save it, and then...
