Re: Roland 909 day new products
Very interesting products. The System-8 controller looks amazing, but again I have two reservations - 4-octave keyboard and USB drivers non-compliant so I'd worry about loading plugouts once Roland drops driver support. The VP03 looks fabulous - it will be very interesting to see what job they have ...

Re: Jupiter-80 Librarian on GitHub
Thanks for the update and thank for confirming it's a prototype / early stage development project - very helpful to know for non-techies (and for techies who may wish to contribute to it's development :-) ). At first I thought you meant there was a compiled binary OSX package available, so your clar...

Re: Need your feedback on the JP-80
Hi Neil My choices: Positive : Supernatural Acoustic Tones (especially Pianos, Woodwinds, Orchestral Strings and Timpani) (also - build quality - it oozes class, and is built like a tank) Negative: Layered Architecture, as implemented. Simplify (the V-SynthGT has a layered architecture but is far mo...

Re: Jupiter-80 Librarian on GitHub
Thanks kimsnarf. I've clicked on the link but am unfamiliar with GitHub and hence not clear what you have put there. Could you provide some download and install instructions? I downloaded the available zip file but only find a replica of the GitHup environment in there, with no executable. Do you re...

Re: Buy Another Jupiter 80
@TJ80: I'm an OASYS owner (and love it still) - and also a JP80 and V-Synth GT owner. For sure, the V-Synth GT is the best hardware device for vocoding and vocal design - if you have the vocal design card for the XT you have the same capability. However - the OASYS / Kronos vocoder has one _very_ in...

Re: If ever JP80 needed validation ...
Actually - I'd say the JP80 has done OK in professional circles - you see them a lot in professional rigs on TV, online and in magazines. I saw Herbie Hancock play live in Dublin about 5 years ago (live performance of his amazing album "The Imagine Projects" and while it was just before th...

Re: So I stepped away from my JP80, Forgot how to use!
This isn't a direct answer to your question but a suggestion to an approach (I'm VERY slowly optimising my JP80 to be very flexible in a realtime way with this approach): Create a Registration which has only one Liveset active and in it only one Tone active. In the Synth tone, only have one Partial ...

Re: JP80 - hugely disappointed with it.
Please stop flaunting your 4 990s! Some of us have to make do with 2! (And an 800) And, for the record, it is 4 JD990's all loaded with SR-JV80-04 expansions...Vintage Synth's for days! Besides, that JD-800 looks much more menacing than a couple of black boxes! :-D And I am hugely disappointed that...

Re: Roland Has Discontinued it's workstations
OK -
I can see that int he System Menu - there is an option to save what livesets are allocated to what buttons - as well as for the alternatives.
Phew!
That's something of a relief - and make configuring the JP80 for live performance significantly more capable.
Cheers
Kevin.

Re: Roland Has Discontinued it's workstations
Here's a better way of asking it: From the persepctive of using a Registration: 1. Can I allocate my choice of programs for all buttons, and have them saved as part of a registration if not: 2. Can I allocate them a fixed set of my sounds, and have those saved, some how, as defaults? I think you've ...

Re: Roland Has Discontinued it's workstations
I'm still not clear what you're saying - From the manual, they show for each button three options per button - so that if you cycle through those, you select them - for example there are three types of piano that Roland pre-set for the Piano button. So - lets say I tweek and acoustic piano and save ...

Re: Roland Has Discontinued it's workstations
So what you're saying is - all of the buttons on the Lower, Upper and Solo sections on the front panel have no programming capability, and are set as presets that cannot be altered and saved to memory - but can be changed during a power up session but are lost on power down? Right? What about the &q...

Re: Roland Has Discontinued it's workstations
Thanks Cello - but can you save such changes, as the default on power up?
