I too have a Fantom S. There is an "Auto-chop" function/utility on it. I haven't used it but I saw it being used on the Roland Fantom video demo filmed at NAMM about a year ago.

Yeah,
I'd like to just use one of the built-in drum patterns which are very nice... and copy them into my own pattern, then start layering on the melodic sounds. But I can't figure out how to copy an existing pattern???
