Re: DAN: Record (Replace) Sequencer?
<t>On the flip side. I do understand that the G and all so-called workstations are designed PRIMARILY for performance use first. Meaning that the performance aspect is given priority. However, when you add a full sequencer you have to take off your performance hat and start thinking production first...

Re: DAN: Record (Replace) Sequencer?
"Keep in mind fellow Fantom lovers that you can record different parts within the same phrase without having to stop recording. And 1.20 makes this very easy as you can select different groups and channels/parts and record them to the same phrase without having to leave the Song Play environme...

Re: DAN: Record (Replace) Sequencer?
<t>I agree with Quinnx. I do see the logic behind treating the phrase as one unit and it going with the new concept but it has its drawbacks. The way to avoid this is to use the auto track feature and record one channel to one track only.<br/> <br/> At least the rehearse mode should disengage record...

Re: Opening the Wishlist for future OS
I like the way you think B-righteuous... that kinda thing would do wonders for using the G for backing tracks live... especially for those spontaneous artists who never do a song the same way twice... Yes, this would be a very cool live performance feature for remixing as well as for aiding composi...

<t>New pattern mode.<br/> <br/> Before I made some suggestions for pattern mode. Some of that functionality now exist in song mode with the auto track feature so why not just integrate pattern features right in song mode.<br/> <br/> This can be done using the marker feature. The marker window has ro...

Both part and track solo would be nice. Both have different uses. I would prefer track solo and mute automation the most.

Re: Quantization improvement is useless!!!
<t>Both MV8800 and Motif XS allow you to audition your quantize changes in real time. Plus you can adjust swing(shuffle) along with quantize strength on one screen. Both are also non destructive but if we could just audition the song as we make changes in real time I think it is OK if it is not non ...

Re: Cool update, BUT STILL NO Solo function???!...
<t>Yes, this will work but you have to do each note manually and then you have to manually assign each new channel to the same rhythm patch. This could be automated like I described with the split notes feature from the MV8000. The XS also does this with a job called "divide drum tracks"<br/> <br/> ...

Re: Cool update, BUT STILL NO Solo function???!...
<t>First, there should at least be normal solo for midi and audio tracks that can be recorded as mute automation.<br/> <br/> The drum key solo for rhythm patches can be solved in a couple different ways.<br/> <br/> The MV 8800 has a function called split notes that divides the currently selected tra...

Re: Version 1.20 Software Update!!!
<t>Exactly! That is what I was saying. Even if you could overdub the quantize changes over preexisting material and audition the changes in real time would be cool. <br/> <br/> The way its looks now is that you can change quantize in record for new notes only. This is done just prior to playing new ...

+1
No solo is an utterly insane omission for any sequencer.
You should also be able to record midi track mutes and SOLO.

Re: Version 1.20 Software Update!!!
I have not tried this but I noticed in the video that "stop trigger" was set to manual. This would make it semi-auto if I am not mistaken.I'm curious as to how this is a demo of Auto divide when it appears your dividing your samples manually??

Re: Version 1.20 Software Update!!!
<t>Great work on this update. Roland really came through. The auto tracks functions was just the right remedy for keeping the track to part relationship organized. It really makes it easier to get going. This is what I was thinking should be done in the first place and you still have the option to t...

Re: so how is sequencing with new fantom?
You're talking about a track-based sequencer? Not really. First of all, there's no "following the currently selected channel" in part-based sequencers. There's no "choosing the track chooses the destination of the track". Unless that's not what you're talking about (sorry, up la...
