A Strange Midi Sync Conundrum
<t>I got roped into doing some music for a guy's little video project. He wants an amped up version of 'Rule, Britannia!'. I don't know much about the song but there's a section of it that is probably familiar to just about everyone. It's public domain so it was easy to find the sheet music but I fi...

Re: XP-30 & SoundDiver: A Walk Down Memory Lane
<t>Sorry to hear about your troubles with SoundDiver, it really sux that they folded so long ago. The version I use came with the XP-30, it was version 2 but had to be updated immediately to version 3 before it would even work. <br/> It was not until a couple years back that I'd even tried to use it...

XP-30 & SoundDiver: A Walk Down Memory Lane
<t>I spent an insane amount of time last week, and this weekend, trying to get the OS 9 OEM version of SoundDiver 3.0 to communicate with the XP-30. I had done it once before on Mac (via MIDI interface) but like an idiot I didn't document the procedure. <br/> <br/> The XP-30 synth has a Mac style 8 ...

Thanks, that may be an acceptable solution if/when I can figure that out.

Re: Losing My Sample Man!
<t>So I can't actually save a created sample as a patch in the user area the same way any other patch is in there?<br/> <br/> I'd have to reload that sample every time I turn the XR on?<br/> <br/> Page 124 explains how to save the sample as a patch which lead me to believe I could save it as a norma...

Losing My Sample Man!
<t>My Fantom XR was at Ver. 2.02 when I bought it new and I maxed out the RAMM and got a couple compact flash cards and the adapter right away.<br/> <br/> I've used the unit for quite some time but have only recently dug into the sampling features/functionality.<br/> <br/> I had a little trouble at ...

Re: Illegal File
I've just started to try learning the sampling functions as well.
I was getting illegal file as well.
Apparently the wav/aiff file has to be mono because then it seemed to work.

Fantom XR will not transmit program change messages??!!
Please verify this is correct. The Fantom XR will not transmit program change messages?
I'll have to use the old XP-30 which sucks because it's only got 32 user performance locations.

Re: Sending Patch Change Messages from Roland Synths
Apparently the Fantom XR WILL NOT transmit program change messages. It's a bummer because the XR has 64 user perfomances and now I'll have to go back to the XP-30 which only has 32.
I may be able to incorporate my JV-1080 to get an additional 32 performances......

Sending Patch Change Messages from Roland Synths
<t>It recently occurred to me that perhaps I can send differing MIDI patch change messages on different channels to other outboard gear in performance mode.<br/> <br/> For example if I were to setup a performance preset properly I could send out a patch change 79 on channel 2 to a vocal effects unit...

Re: Fantom XR, Sonar & .ins files
<t>John - Because I'll be using my XR for both live gigs as well as home recording I go looking for the patches I want to use and place them strategically in user/rewriteable locations for easy access. Often times I may change sounds 3 or 4 times during a song the band is playing and I need to have ...

Amen, you said it!!
The only thing at sound tower appears to be for the fantom S76.
They're still playing catch-up?

Fantom XR, Sonar & .ins files
<t>I find it hard to believe that this issue hasn't been raised but it doesn't seem to come up in the searches I've made.<br/> <br/> Sonar users know how important instrument definition files are when using hardware synths with 1000's of sounds. Just as important but harder to find is a way to updat...

Re: Anyone still uses Fantom without computer?
Ok it's coming to me a little, I did manage to move a couple patches and retune one but geeeez, I'd sure like to know of an editor with more visual capability; one where I didn't have to resort to the front panel knobs, dials and buttons at all.

Computer? I Wish!
<t>I wish the Fantom Librarian and/or Editor programs had some useful fuctionality. I would much prefer to use the computer for editing and moving patches around like I'd always done with the XP-30 and JV-1080. Near as I can tell the Librarian program has about as much funtionality as Word for DOS V...
