Re: Here's how to use Fantom XR in Windows 7 RC
<t>I'm sorry you are having problems. My Roland Fantom worked fine in Vista and the procedure I wrote was for Windows 7. I do not use 64-bit OS (yet) so I cannot say anything about that. <br/> <br/> While it should work, I would not in general ever unzip anything to the desktop, only because some fo...

<t>An outside chance this might help: <br/> <br/> One time, after I had been using many USB devices, I started getting this error. It doesn't matter what is connected at the time; it matters how many drivers have been loaded over the course of using the PC. <br/> <br/> If this sounds like something ...

Re: Who's using their digital out ... ?
I don't know the reason for the difference, but yes, the SPDIF does sound different. It is cleaner, with maybe less bass "boominess".
I use the Fantom-X as the master clock for the rest of my downstream devices, and that works fine.

<t>A ground loop can occur and produce that hum if everything is not plugged into the same AC source, including other devices connected to the stereo.<br/> <br/> If it isn't a ground loop AC problem, then try replacing the Y cable. Fantom XR USB MIDI drops connection in Windows XP
<t>I have a Fantom XR, which is fabulous. I'm running XP SP2.<br/> <br/> For the purposes of this problem, I leave my PC on all the time, and the power saver settings are on Never for all devices. Re: User Patches based on Expansion Cards
I'm guessing that it would work. When I edited the instrument definition files for each new SRX board, it did not require any entries for which slot it was in. Each SRX board has unique addresses.

Disappointed
<t>Compared to the many great sounds of the other SRX boards I have, the 03, 07, and 09, I was very disappointed in the 12. There are many fewer total sounds, especially compared to the 09. I found only five patches I thought I would use in the future in the 12. Yes, those sound great, but I feel I ...

NO! Get this condition fixed first. You could blow out your equipment, get shocked or both.
Seriously.

Re: Best SRX card w/Fantom X
In my Fantom-XR, I have the SRX-03, 07 and 09. I think the next purchase will be the SRX-06. As a brass and woodwind player, I don't need the SRX-10.
My main interest in the three boards I already have is for a good acoustic guitar, and good electric and acoustic piano.
