Re: SP404 main board gone

Bad luck.

I've had a 606 since new (2004), been gigged live hundreds of times. Never an issue. Friends with 404s have had heaps of little problems (freezing in the club etc) but I've not heard of a complete failure like that.

Re: Would someone be willing to send me the P606 software?

You're better off getting Kinetic 2

http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/Kinetic/

It's just as compatible with the 606 and more powerful.

Re: Recording the D-Beam synth?

I dunno which D-Beam Synth you are talking about; but there's a trick on the SP-555 for recording midi from the D-Beam synth. Check the 555 section of SP Forums.

Re: sp-555 vs. sp-606

<t>The 606 is still a more advanced machine than the 555. Chopping/Editing, sequencing, FX, sample-storage and the built-in synth are all more feature-rich on the 606.

606 also has digital recording capabilites that are way more advanced than its price tag would suggest

However...

Re: Using an 808 for hip hop production

It's not gonna be like an MPC.

Is it the MC808 you got?

There's an SP808 (and 808ex) and of course the TR808 as well you know...

Re: SP 555: Does it chop?

<r>DJ Frantic, or any of the 404-heads at SP-Forums could explain better than me - I actually use the 606!

I know that the 555 has the mark button though, so it must have the same capabilities as the 404 in this regard.

Basically, it means that you listen to the sample, use th...

Re: SP 555: Does it chop?

Does it have a mark button or not? The answer is of course YES, so therefore it chops the same way as the 404. 404 fans (and there's an ARMY of them!) swear by this chopping method. To say you can't chop on the machine is not only negative but quite misleading. And people say Roland tell lies..

Re: sp555 myth (not a review)

"this DBeam thingy, its just there because it can be and i can see no real use for it. "

You can get filter-sweep with a d-beam that are impossible with just knobs, or even a touch pad. If you use filter-sweeps in your music then a d-beam has a very real use...

The MPC 500 crashes. A lot. If it didn't it would be good. But it's not.
