Re: Guidance for Xm with 3.0 firmware
I thought the latest manual and sound lists were for v3.0 and above? They certainly are for the X.

Re: Volume control of parts using external midi controller
CC7 is part volume, so you would just need each part on a separate midi channel.

Re: how to remove all effects from an instrument
You're welcome, let us know how you get on.
It would probably be a good idea to set INST FX Type to THRU as well (in fact maybe try that first).
All the INST and INST FX settings are saved as part of the kit.

Re: how to remove all effects from an instrument
Yes it makes sense but I don't think there's a default as such - each kit has different settings. I would try something like: Tune 0 Decay 255 Level 255 Gain 0.0dB Pan CENTER ReverbSend 0 DelaySend 0 Also turn the kit's MASTER FX Sw to OFF If that doesn't work I would think you have a fault somewhere.

Re: how to remove all effects from an instrument
I haven't come across this, but I would suggest you check all the INST settings (using SHIFT-INST) like tune, decay, level etc and see if they need adjusting.

Re: Keystep Pro and TR-8S Issue
Just had a quick look at the KSP manual online. P153: "Utility>Drum Map>Config>Custom: Enables you to link each of the 24 Drum keys on the keyboard to a MIDI note number in the range 0 to 127. The default mapping starts at MIDI note 36." So your 24 Drum keys will play notes 36-59 which wil...

Re: Keystep Pro and TR-8S Issue
The sequencer pads light up on the TR8S as though a pattern is playing but it's blank. I've selected a blank pattern on the TR8S You've sort of answered your own question - the TR-8S is playing along with your KSP, having received a midi start message, but the pattern is blank so you don't get any ...

Re: tr8-s midi mutes
You’re very welcome, and yes I was thinking myself this was in danger of becoming a Windows v Mac heated debate! I actually got the MB for app development, otherwise I’d most likely still be using a PC for music. But having paid over the odds for a laptop we feel the need to justify our purchase :-)...

Re: tr8-s midi mutes
I assume by 64 samples you mean buffer rather than latency? If I drop the buffer to the minimum 32 samples, latency is only 6ms, not that the difference is really noticeable. A latency of 64 samples would be extremely impressive. The problem with Windows is that (afaik) you can't use two audio inter...

Re: tr8-s midi mutes
Basically, yes. Cubase sends midi to the TR-8S and 6 synths through a 10-port USB hub. The audio comes back through the same hub, some directly as USB audio, some as analog going into a Zoom L-20R in interface mode (ie just acting as an A/D converter) and then as USB audio into Cubase. The TR-8S, th...

Re: tr8-s midi mutes
You’re welcome. Must admit I didn’t know about mute status not being saved but I mainly use the TR to build loops and then record the midi into Cubase so it’s not a feature I use much.

Re: tr8-s midi mutes
If you mean the mute function using the buttons on the front, it's midi in the sense that it stops that instrument (eg BD) from producing midi note on/off messages, but it doesn't record a volume change or anything. Not sure if that helps???
