Figured it out. Inside of performance mode on the first screen which shows the piano keys, I had 5 of the KBD parts checked. so I was getting 5 hits each time I played a note because of this.

can I save the midi files independently for each track, so I'd have 16 midi files?

Right I went to that mixer screen, and in that screen the tracks were not actually muted. The are somehow only muted in the Song Edit screen. Thus not playing back.

Has anyone tried using a PC card/USB or firewire hub connected to a USB or Firewire hard drive for saving files? Do this work?
