You get a second V-piano - an upright.
And as an existing GC owner, you should expect a discount code from Roland to get the EX for 75% off. Do NOT buy the EX prior to getting that code.

Re: Confused what the RD-2000 EX Upgrade Offers
One way to look at it If you buy the EX, you get two new V pianos for $200 If you buy the GC, you get one new V piano for $150 So offering the second V piano to GC owners for $50 is no real discount, but does respect the $150 you have already spent, and buying that second V piano for only $50 more i...

Re: New: Roland RD-08 Stage Piano
We now know the price of the upgrade - just posted in RC - $299. So this brings you back to the same price as the 88, less buttons, knobs, and scenes, but with the SA3 piano and class audio support.

ADMINS -
I see you have now all disabled PMs - so don't know how to contact the team and recommend that the RD-08 be added to this group instead of starting a new one - it appears functionally similar to the RD-88 - you just have to buy back some of the capability and extensions on Roland Cloud.

Re: New: Roland RD-08 Stage Piano
One of the more interesting new features is the Supernatural Acoustic Piano 3, which right now only appears on the Fantom EX upgrade. Now that they have developed the content, I would be surprised if it doesn't show up eventually for the RD-88, or even the RD-2000 as a RC purchase. RC doesn't show t...

Now we have the rest of the story - you can buy additional features from Roland Cloud, including the USB audio compliance. So it is designed to put more focus on Roland Cloud. https://www.roland.com/us/products/rc_rd-08_upgrade Sound and feature upgrade for the RD-08 Stage Piano SuperNATURAL Acousti...

Re: New: Roland RD-08 Stage Piano
Looking at the MIDI implementation manual, the SysEx memory map is essentially identical, and it uses the same SysEx device identification - so it really is a RD-88 in new clothes, and maybe a few less scenes, and slightly changed interface overlaying the same engine.

Re: Using External FX for single patch/scene
??? There are no separate wired outputs on the Jupes - just the L and R.
You do have separate output available via USB, using Vender MIDI driver and appropriate computer drivers. But that prolly doesn't solve your problem.

Re: Jupiter xm cc5 portamento
Just did a test with JP-X 012 - Big Swells in Part 1. Seems to work ok. Cc 05 is passed to the SCENE PART setting called Port Time [0-127, Tone). If Tone was previously specified, it is replaced with the received MIDI value. Port must be enabled as required in SCENE PART switch [Off, On, Tone], or i...

Re: RD-88...so HOW do you actually edit sounds (not Scenes!)
Then, the remaining pages, 6 - 40 list the thousands of tones that reside inside the RD-88, but that you can't access, but they have to live there in order for you to edit them with an external PC and a paid subscription to the cloud? You can access all internal sounds without a PC or cloud. The RD...

Re: XV model: patch structure ?
I guess you could dig through the original factory patches, find one that uses one of the structures not present in the Jupe, then decode that patch and see how they do it there. The other thing is to compare the sounds back to back, does the Jupe come close to the original sound? I say close, becau...

Re: XV model: patch structure ?
I suspect they only have patches that can be implemented within the ZEN Core structure. ZC is pretty powerful, can have lots of action hidden in Mod matrix, etc, and the Roland sound folks know how to hook them up.

Re: Volume control of parts using external midi controller
With the MIDI Designer layout, we use the SysEx to reach in to the part volume setting, since this is independent of MIDI channel assignment complexity.
You could use either CC 7 or 11 on the appropriate channel to control part volume. Just have to keep track of which part is on which channel.

Re: Jupiter X-Xm Manager 2.00 is now available.
Minor update to 2.01. Was not properly reading offsets for zones 2-4, and ended up making the offsets page layout more logical.
