Re: JV-880 can't handle 16th note high hats?
Thanks, kiskadar69! That was a very helpful answer. It didn't end up being those things (I have the latest firmware and mutes off), but I believe I have figured out my specific situation: 1) I had a bad power supply. I got that repaired and now it's no longer shutting down. That might have been part...

JV-880 can't handle 16th note high hats?
I'm using my JV-880 with an Octatrack sequencer in performance mode. It's working fine for kick, snare, and pads, but when I try high hats at 128 bpm 16th notes, it struggles to keep up, notes sound loose with occasional skips, and after about four minutes the whole unit either freezes or restarts. ...

Re: Wondering what else we will see as plugouts for the Syst
I think the 303 just doesn't make sense as a plugout. The System-8 sequencer doesn't support accents or slides and (unless I missed something) you'd need a separate patch for every pattern. I guess they could add menu items for shuffle and randomize. It’s true about needing a separate patch per pat...

Re: Wondering what else we will see as plugouts for the Syst
I'm beginning to suspect nothing. They didn't make the 303 a plugout, which makes me wonder if they're done with them.

Re: Polyphony/voice question (Pre-purchase)
Yes, you can set upper and lower channels to any MIDI channel you want in the system menu.

Re: Polyphony/voice question (Pre-purchase)
Polyphony just means how many notes it can play at once of any sound or sounds. Multitimbrality is the number of different sounds or instruments it can play at once. System-8 is only two-part multitimbral (two midi channels - upper and lower), with a fixed four voices (notes) allocated to each part....

Re: External VCA Env with SH-2 plugout on System-1m
I connected the Analog Four CV envelope out. To be clear, the same connection works with the System-1 engine and the Promars plugout (and other synths). With the SH-2 plugout it also works except the amp envelope makes noise. It took me a minute to put my finger on what sounded wrong, but try it wit...

External VCA Env with SH-2 plugout on System-1m
Has anyone used this combo and noticed that SH-2 plugout's VCA is very noisy when controlled externally by CV? Doesn't happen on the native S1 engine or other plugouts I've tried. Roland Support is ignoring my question, so I'm posting here to see if I'm the only one with this issue. I think it's a b...

Re: Sampler MS-1
I just bricked a perfectly good MS-1 trying to update it with this official Roland support file:

Don't do it, no matter how tempted you are to get the latest update. Mine just says "Roland" when powered on, forever.

Re: Something's coming...
I second the frustration with lack of sysex on the Aira range. Badly needed, especially with such limited memory. Missing sysex is the single biggest issue I have with Aira stuff. Otherwise it's wonderful for me.

Re: TR-8 kit saving?
If you have an MPC you can come pretty close to total recall by going into step edit mode, hitting overdub, and wiggling each of the knobs until they rest back where you had them. Then when you play that MPC sequence, your knob positions will be recalled no matter where you moved them. Yes, it's a s...
