I have all instruments sent to submixer (Mackie 802VLZ4) which sends the stereo sum to TR-8. it is empty - it is for the user to decide what to put in it. Just remember that if you change the AXIAL expansion, the DS will remove the previous sounds and add new ones. So if you used eg EXP-1 sounds in some pattern, when you switch to EXP-2, the previous sounds will mute, as they dissapear.

As far as I remember, FA-8 is tagged by Roland as workstation and Juno DS as ACB synth for live applications. To me, Juno DS is a less complicated younger brother of FA-8. I wonder if Ican say that Juno DS is simply a cheaper FA-8 with less flex... FA-8 has more pads, some samples are "supernat...

These are all basic functions described very well in the first few pages of the manual ;) Dive into the system menu (system settings), all things are pretty self explanatory there.
