I know this is a resurrected old thread, but the jd-xa isn't a groovebox/workstation - it's a synthesizer. As such, not having drums isn't a "problem" to fix.
Roland have a boat-load of stuff that does drums in their catalog.

Re: Petitioning Roland for JD-XA updates.
It is sad to see this forum become less and less active. There are still so many tricks to be shared and discussed. That update could have kept, and perhaps even bumped up the interest for this synth. But hey, perhaps some of us will recognize each other on forums in about 20 years. When its status...

Re: Open Letter to Roland: Pattern Length: 16
Elektron and TE both have a tiny number of products that they try to keep fluffing, to maximise returns from their initial R & D investment - Roland is at the opposite end of the spectrum, constantly bringing out new stuff across a wide range of product types. It seems Roland have moved on from ...

Re: Huge volume increase with digital part when using poly s
there is a clear bump in level when just using analog in poly-stack and adding notes, and there is smaller bump in level when introducing a digital poly chord to a mono analog part. add that together for each additional note, and it makes sense that the level jumps like it does. Have to manage the d...

Re: Play one program after another like on JD-Xi?
I don't think that's possible on the jd-xa as designed, but maybe someone has come up with a workaround.
The jd-xa isn't a big jd-xi, they have different focuses. The jd-xi seems to be more of a modern day all-in-one mc-x0x style groovebox, whereas the jd-xa is more synthesizer orientated.

Re: Bastle Kastle and the Roland JD-XA.
I hear what you're saying, but Doug really wasn't being like that - he was given bad advice by someone who seems to have then came here and bashed him! Even now it seems GilgaFrank can't grasp that syncing the kastle with the jd-xa was solved - with the solution written directly above his post here ...

Re: Bastle Kastle and the Roland JD-XA.
Pretty vitriolic stuff given the only other person who posted at length there said it couldn't be done without external hardware!
Even so, the JD-XA doesn't output a voltage clock. There's no way of doing it without external hardware like a Kenton MIDI to CV interface

Re: Bastle Kastle and the Roland JD-XA.
This came up on the facebook jd-xa group - here's how to get a pulse-sync device (eg volca, kastle, pocket operator) synced to the jd-xa: - - - For Korg Volca: init patch connect GATE OUT 1 on jd-xa to the sync in socket on your device (eg sync in on volca) press MIDI CTRL on jd-xa (so it's playing/...

Re: Very low output volume
There are a bunch of places to control jd-xa volume: Global: front panel master volume menu > system > SOUND: Output Gain menu > program > level TFX1/2 compressors etc Individual parts - these are particularly useful if trying to use LPF3 without the resonance going weird: Mixer section knobs Amp kn...

Re: OS 1.6 update requests
This is a firmware-updatable product - so it seems entirely reasonable for people to post the things they'd like to see updated via a firmware update. As far as I'm aware, Roland have not made any reference to the jd-xa being end-of-line. Whether we'll actually get another firmware update is another...

Re: Modulate noise level via LFO?
To be clear, in the end did you just use a second part (digital) set so that its LFO controls amp and then blend that cycling noise burst into the analog part via the AUX level? @Saturn: other than the hard-wired LFO destinations (filter, osc pitch, amp, pw - and pan/mod lfo rate in digital) have yo...

Re: Roland is Inflating their Pricing!
My argument is that in order to knock a price down by that much ($2800 -> $1300), the price would have had to have been inflated artificially . To add to what zombietactics said, things that are also not remotely unusual for businesses of all types: 1) pricing products based on what the market will...

I got worse latency using the audio over usb from the jd-xa vs using my audio interface to do the A/D conversion.

Re: External controller?
If you're using the jd-xa in a studio and have it hooked up to a computer, the Memory Splice editor makes wave selection easy if you are happy to just select from a drop-down list. http://memorysplice.com/jdxa/ the editor is very good at some things (especially the deep menu stuff like effects and t...
