Need some help with the Midi capabilities of the FA
I'm fairly new to Midi and I'm curious how to set the Midi implementation on the FA to suit my needs. I want to be able to set the sequencer so that some tracks are the internal Roland sounds while others are the sounds of my Moog and Prophet. What settings do I use? When I try and do it with the Ro...

Re: Need your feedback on the JD-XA
The Pros: The blending of acoustic tones and analog synth tones. For some reason playing a piano patch or even string patch on a synth with a ton of knobs and buttons on the front reminded me of the old Emulators. The sounds themselves are good and with the ability to add Integra sounds, makes it ev...

Re: More analog synths from Roland in the future?
I'd rather have the XA than any new pure analogue. Unless it was an 8 voice analogue with the XA digital engine. Otherwise XA all the way! But they'll probably put 2 XA analogue boards in one unit at some point to make a new SUPER JDX or something. While I do appreciate the XA, the design itself ca...

More analog synths from Roland in the future?
I'm a huge analog synth fan and with the popularity of Dave Smith Instruments as of the past two years and with Korg getting their foot back in the door with their analog gear do you think we'll see more of an analog resurgence with Roland? I know they brought back the System 500 and the JD-XA is a ...

Looping a single track in the sequencer
I'm curious is it possible to loop just a single track on the sequencer over and over while the other tracks are not being looped also? Basically can I do a drum beat, say a kick drum beat over and over and start to add to the track in real time live, without having everything loop for 4 bars over a...

Re: White JD-XA coming?
I'd be interested in a white version so I can read the writing on the front panel easier.
Plus it would make it stand out visually from other synths.

Saving a studio set as a tone
Hey there, is it possible to save a studio set as a tone? For example I've split the keyboard into sections which have different articulations of brass. Can I save that set as a tone so I don't have to fill up all the layers on the sequencer?

Assigning a step sequence as an arpeggio.
Hey there just curious if it's possible to record a step sequence and set it as a created arpeggio? Long story short, I'm a big John Carpenter fan and while I do have a Moog and am looking into a Prophet I'm just curious if this is possible with the F.A. For example if you record a sequence like the...

Is it possible (expression pedal question)
I was just curious if it would be possible to assign one part of a studio set to an expression or volume pedal while the others are not. Much like how Vangelis has a ton of them at his feet so he can bring in sounds when he needs to is this possible with the F.A. or would this be too complicated?

Noise/Moog Modular sounds in FA-O8
Hey guys, I'm having difficulty programming sounds similar to the Moog Modular in the FA-08. I'm planning on getting a Moog Sub 37 anyway but I was curious if anyone has found any good results emulating white noise loops/crackles. I'm thinking John Carpenter's early work like the white noise/hi-hat ...

Re: Brass effects for Roland FA 08
Curious now. Can you program a setting in which each key actually plays multiple notes? For example if I want to have a dissonance chord sound or like an unnerving brass cluster (ala Creature From The Black Lagoon or The Shining) can I somehow have three trumpets and each of them is tuned to a semi ...

Re: Brass effects for Roland FA 08
I'll definitely look into the brass upgrade and do some experimentation. It just seems stuff like cluster or flutter tongue is never available and that's a huge problem for me cause they are my favorite sounds. Really was hoping it was part of the brass upgrade itself and I didn't have to menu dive ...

Brass effects for Roland FA 08
Hey guys this is my first post. I recently got an FA 08 and love it. However I've always noticed that brass sounds on synths almost never sound realistic. This could be my playing but I've noticed a severe lack of "effects' on brass sounds. I'm really into soundtrack music as of late and have b...
