Deleting Patches = Initializing Tones?
Hi all, With all these new patches I've installed via Axial (The EXP libraries and the Integra-7 "Easter Egg" sounds), I'm thinking I'll eventually need to delete some patches. Is the only way to do this on the FA to go into Tone Edit and then Tone Utility and then Tone Initialize? That's ...

Re: Importing Axial Sets to Roland FA-06
OK, I finally got it to work. I don't know exactly what was the cause of my problem, whether hardware or software, but I upgraded to the new System 2.0 software. My 64GB Kingston USB wouldn't work, but my 8GB Kingston micro SD card (with USB adaptor) did. I did the upgrade, and then the libraries (w...

Re: Importing Axial Sets to Roland FA-06
Has anyone found an answer to this question? I've tried every USB stick I own to import a sound set to my FA-08, including a 1GB card through an adaptor, a 64G Kingston stick, various Lexars, Staples, and Verbatim sticks, including the stick I use with my FP7. I've used a fresh download of EXP11.BIN...

Re: Aftertouch/organ rotary effect
Hi, The mod lever or whammy bar effect is a property of the selected tone. The Full Grand tone, for example, has vibrato as its modulation, while the COSM Searing tone has mostly tremolo. I don't know if we have access to these properties, but you might want to try different organ tones to see which...

WNA, FA and DAW?
Hi all, The Wireless LAN section in the Roland FA-08 manual says I can control the piano from a smartphone. Can I also control it wirelessly from a DAW running on a laptop? That would be very useful, but the fact that nobody seems to be talking about it makes me a little pessimistic that it can be d...

Re: Clavinet setting (with Wah)
You can also use the Wah effect in the Sound Control knobs. Use the Select button to highlight the bottom row, then twiddle the TFX Select knob (second from right) until you see Wah on the screen. Careful you don't bump the knob or it will change to another effect!

You might try looking at the Mixer, accessible via the Menu key. Would this work for you?

Re: I lightened the hammers in the fa08
I agree that the 08 has a very stiff and heavy action compared to the other Roland's I've used. I wouldn't go so far as to drill away the metal 3x88 times: I'm not THAT much of a gear head. I am pleased, though, that the overall toting weight of the 08 is much less than my other Rolands. I also just...

TFX Select Knob, and discrete vs continuous dials
I took the FA-08 out on a gig last night. I wanted to use the "Wah" TFX on a clav sound so I dialed it in using the TFX Select knob and then modified the Wah speed using the TFX CTRL knob. Problem was, the TFX Select kept slipping or drifting into one of the adjacent effects (Bit Crush or ...

Re: All I want to do is load a midi file into my FA-08!
Yeah, I get it now. But I had thought SMF was a file extension (like .mid) instead of just a three letter acronym.

Re: Programme changes
That's a big help in trying to understand the FA's song/studio set model. The song I recently loaded, which is supposed to be two grand piano voices, plays on different voices depending on what studio set I call up. So does this mean that each new song I create should have its own studio set (unless...

Re: All I want to do is load a midi file into my FA-08!
Thanks, cello. I couldn't find this information in the owner's manual at first. I don't know where this terminology of SMF came from. It's just midi, isn't it? Anyway, it took me a few tries, but I could finally load my file. I don't think my card reader is 100% reliable (or it could be that big hai...

All I want to do is load a midi file into my FA-08!
I don't know if I'm missing something, or if Roland has missed something. All I want to do is load a simple midi file into my FA-08 so I can play that file during sound check. I don't want to go through a DAW, since I don't have a DAW that the FA-8 recognizes. I just want to plug in a card or a USB ...

Re: How are your FAs doing so far?
My FA-08 still has me climbing the learning curve. Love the sounds and the features, and I've explored a lot of them. I just got the vocoder working, for example. (Forgot that little level knob beside the mike input.) But the action is frustratingly stiff compared to my FP-7, or to a decent acoustic...
