Re: S1 and S2 switches can't switch parts on and off

A previous post states "That would work, if Roland had only thought to allow you to set up how each part responds to the S1 and S2 switches (and at least, set up which parts respond to the S1 and S2 switches). But they haven't. You can only set up what these switches do across the whole studio ...

Re: Is it possible (expression pedal question)

You can definitely do this with an expression pedal. I'm not in front of my FA at the moment but I think it goes something like this: First, create a Studio Set containing the piano on Part 1 and the strings on Part 2, for example. Second, within that Studio Set, go to Studio Set Common / Pedal (tha...

Re: Quick Access to More Than Studio Sets

Joe,

You may already know this, but you can press Shift + Favorites to display a list of all the favorites in a given bank. I believe you can also press Shift + cursor buttons to move left and right in order to switch between different banks quickly.

Re: How do people use the FA-06 live?

In my cover band, I use one Studio Set for each song in a live set, and I arrange rather complex layers and splits, with some parts faded in by expression pedal, and some solo parts selected using the pads. I am finding that I can pretty much cover anything using the FA-08 as my only board.

Re: Kbd-Switch On-Off

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure whether you can set S1/S2 buttons to turn the keyboard switch on. But if your goal is to toggle a specific part on and off to make it audible / inaudible, you should be able to achieve the same result by assigning S1/S2 (or a specific pedal) to control the "...

Tones for a couple of 80s songs

I am covering a couple of 80s songs for an upcoming gig and I'm wondering if anyone has found suitable tones in the presets (or EXPs) for the following two songs:

Take on Me (many keyboard parts to cover in this one)

I'll Melt With You

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Pedal/footswitch to move up and down through studio sets

I'm looking for a momentary pedal/footswitch for toggling through the FA's studio sets during live performance. I've seen the DP-2 and the Yamaha FC-5 (I imagine but am not sure the Yamaha would have no polarity issue with the FA because it's just a momentary switch). But as I understand it these pe...

Sync tone for Cars "Let's Go"

Trying to recreate the synth lead sync tone from the Cars' "Let's Go" and it seems it will take some tweaking of a preset on the FA. Has anyone attempted to create this sound, or does someone with a good ear have any thoughts on how to do so on the FA?

FA-08 case / gig bag / dust cover

Anyone have luck finding a light case or gig bag that fits the FA-08 well? The Gator GK-88 SLXL looks close but its measurements (59 inches long and 15 inches deep) would leave a bit of extra space.

Same question regarding a a dust cover.

Thanks.

Re: Help me choose between FA-06 and FA-08!

I struggled with the same decision and decided on the FA-08. Some other things to think about are whether you will use the FA alone or in conjunction with another board, and whether you plan to do a lot of splits and layers, e.g. for live performance. For me, it's nice to have a set of weighted keys...

Re: MOXF vs Roland FA06/08

I ended up getting the FA-08 today. Don't think I'll regret having the extra real estate for multi-part live performances.

Very happy with it so far. I expect I will be spending approximately 1/3 of my remaining time on this planet selecting patches for studio sets.

Re: MOXF vs Roland FA06/08

Like some I have been hesitating between the FA and the MOXF. I am fond of the MOXF's sounds (more varied, in my opinion stronger in acoustic and across a wider variety of sounds than the FA) and the stronger arpeggiator. But I'm leaning toward getting the FA for ease of use, and because I mainly pe...
