Could be you're problem is within sonar ;

echo-ing midi from another midi Channel
( playing on a surtain midi channel while channel 16 is active )

Hi Husker , This will do the trick , ( I think ) Press the menu button, Select - studio set common General tab - pad part select - just turn it off if you don' t use it ( part 1-16/off) Now part channel 16 lights up and can be used for studio set commands without triggered the pads . I think "you're" midi channel 16 is assigned to the drumpads .
I think you're triggering them with midi ........

Hi Kimbo , for placing the txt file and importing it in your cubase , there is a pdf file on the web . just google for , " Installing Cubase Patch Scripts - Roland ". It's also in the attachment . You have to work around your windows/cubase version , just follow the pdf and you will be oka...

I had the same problem , changed USB cable several times but no success.
Then I changed the audio/line cables , with success .
Humming noise in your setup get drive you mad , believe me , I know .

This may be your solution , it was mine .....
