suggestion - possible way to maximise polyphony??
as a suggestion. no idea if its possible via a Firmware update, or if signal routing is hardwired in the Fantom BUT Polyphony is a problem..... My suspicions are that its limited by the filters (rather than oscillators, or voices) there are 256 voices in Fantom, but there stereo pairs so actually po...

Re: Fantom Polyphony vs Voices
OK - seems Im right about the "reserving for seemless switching) I designed 2 tones. One was a 4 partial which I held on the lowest note only- the other was 2 partial which i used to add polyphony. I got to 104 partials (the 4 low note plus 50 notes of the twin Osc patch) before I got note stee...

Re: Fantom Polyphony vs Voices
If you stack for example 8 Zone with each having 4 Tones and play a chord with 4 keys you need 128 tones. With a long release time and tone remain being on you will run out of polyphony. But that is an extreme example. I never experienced any issues. Wait for the 2.0 Update and can‘t resist... Late...

Re: Fantom Polyphony vs Voices
Well they’ve solved smooth transitioning from one preset to another without interruption or breaks Here goes your extra polyphony. Yes it seems like this feature (that not a lot of people probably use or care about) could be causing us to have HALF the polyphony we would otherwise have!! Is this wh...

Re: Fantom Polyphony vs Voices
Hi.... .... Question: What is the maximum polyphony? Answer: The maximum polyphony is as follows. V-Piano Technology tones: All keys produce sound (can be selected only for ZONE 1) ZEN-Core tones / Drum Kit tones (common): 256 notes If you combine V-Piano Technology tones with ZEN-Core tones / Drum...

Re: Fantom Polyphony vs Voices
Thus far no company has created a bullet proof unlimited polyphony synth or Workstation. I kill the polyphony on the Oasys, Kronos, Fantom 8, and my Jupiter 8 in seconds of playing full chordal passages. This is something that has bothered me for years on end. When will the day come when they come ...

Re: Fantom Polyphony vs Voices
V-Piano is its own thing. It has unlimited polyphone and doest take any of the 256/128 notes from elsewhere. Personally I think the stereo thing is acceptable- so its 128 really not 256 (due to the stereo thing) HOWEVER: 1. It should reserve 2 voices if the PCM is mono.... I use VA 90% of the time w...

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
The system they have does work - Ive had someone test it with their Integra and it functions fine. The "problem" is that theres no standard to NRPs (like cc7 is always volume etc), so other manufacturers may respond to NRP5 differently to semitone shift...or not respond at all. Thing I DON...

Re: MIDI out for multiple internal (INT) zones
Im more than happy you cant transmit midi if its set to int. That would completely ruin the controller aspect for live use. That said - the FA series did allow this in menus. Each zone/tone could/can be set to mute the keyboard but send Midi out, play the keyboard but mute midi out, or play the keyb...

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
That is exactly what Im suggesting. I dont see the need for an octave shift as well personally - just apply it as 12 semitones in the offset.

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
Didnt read your whole post. Regards Octave shift - totally depends how its implemented. It can happen in three ways - as can semitone shifts and fine tune shifts. 1. The board itself takes the note data from the key press - applies the offset, then sends the result out as note data over midi. Thats ...

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
The octave shift wouldnt work either - it would be the same RPN message. The RD works the same in "pitch" mode. When I send a pitch change in that way, my Peaks LFO speeds up...... I think the best way is to add a pitch offset in the offset menu (next to the filter cutoff, resonance, attac...

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
Copied from the parameter guide: External Coarse Tune (RPN#2) ---, -48–+48 The MIDI message (Coarse Tune) is transmitted to an external device . Adjusts the pitch in semitone steps . (RPN: 00H/02H) (±4 octaves) The specified value is transmitted when you switch scenes . If “---” is selected, no mess...

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
OK - had a look in the parameter guide for the Fantom. I seems like you can indeed adjust the pitch of external units using the course and fine tune HOWEVER its not in real time. 1 It sends an RPN message over midi - so your receiving unit needs to accept RPN messages. 2. It sends these message on &...

Re: Fantom 7 / External Octave Shift / Issue
OK - had a look on the RD - as I the Fantom hasnt been delivered - and will delve into the Fantom manual. On the RD there are two places you can alter pitch. The first is called pitch - and here internal sounds show Oct, Course and fine and work as you'd expect. External sounds also show course and ...
