V-Synth as an Ableton Live control surface
<t>Hi<br/> <br/> Question's in the subject line. Just wondering if it's possible to set up the V-Synth/GT to use it as a Live control surface. I understand that the faders and knobs send sysex data - but as a midi novice, I don't really understand whether this actually means it's impossible or just ...

Re: NAMM Report Day 2
I think that it is interesting that Dan mentions the new keytar has supernatural sounds onboard - including not just brass but strings!
Is this not very strong evidence that a supernatural strings ARX is on the way for Fantom G?

Re: NAMM 2009 Announcement: New ARX Expansion Board
<t>Dan says "more to come". <br/> <br/> I am curious: to those who have been to NAMM in the past, do companies like Roland really work in that way - holding back on product announcements until the second, third or fourth day? Introducing new things to their booths as the show progresses? But if they...

<r>Don't think this has been posted yet - Arx 3 has been announced, it's brass.<br/> <br/> V-Synth GT gets an update to V2 - looks incredibly unexciting to me...<br/> <br/> Here's the NAMM 2009 link: <URL url="http://www.roland.com/products/en/goPrd.cfm?sName=&sEvnt=0000001020&sRange=&sR...

Re: Korg (M3) are leading in the updates stakes
<t>Yes, piaknowguy, we did get a big update for the Fantom X - but I still find it amazing that we were charged £50 for it (in the UK - I think it was $50 in the US?). To add insult to injury, when I got around to doing the audio update a year after it was released, it was no longer for sale. Not on...

SuperNatural strings, brass and reed?
Hi
If I am reading that article correctly, the journalist refers to Namm demos of SuperNatural string, brass and reed instruments. I had understood that currently there are only two example of SuperNatural technology - drums and EPs.
Anyone care to comment?

Re: New Roland Workstation 2008?
Roland US are offering $200 rebate on X6, 7 and 8. Plus, with the X8, they are throwing in a free SRX12 board. So, perhaps it's true - the fantom x line is coming to an end.

Re: Importing AIFF/WAV into V-Synth GT
Really pendulum? You mean there is no way of importing AIFF/WAV as things stand? What if Roland take ages or even fails to come up with the OS update - would that mean there is no way of getting external samples into the machine? If so, that seems quite an important thing to me...

GT: is poly share across both tones?
Hi
Could GT owners confirm whether the 28 note poly is per tone, or shared across both tones? I understood the latter to be the case, but read a review in a magazine that seemed to imply that each tone has it's own 28 note allocation.
Thanks

MV8800 easier than Yamaha AW2816?
<t>Hi<br/> I've owned a Yamaha AW2816 audio workstation for two years, and find it an absolute pig to work with - the interface is just so complicated... It totally gets in the way of workflow for me, having to get out the manual everytime I do anything.<br/> <br/> So I was wondering, are there any ...

V-Synth GT review
<t>Thought people might like to know that there is a review of the V-Synth GT in this months Music Tech magazine. First one I've seen...<br/> <br/> It gets top marks, although to me the article read more like a repeat of the specifications than a critical appraisal. Also, unless I read incorrectly, ...

Re: AP Synthesis for user-PCM oscillators?
<t>I spent a little time with a GT on demo here in Belgium, and it seems pretty clear that AP can only be used with a set number of built-in waveforms. <br/> <br/> On the plus side, this means that you are free to use a Sine with the Violin phrasing model to get unusual sounds, but on the minus side...

Re: How BT did those stuttering vocal effect ?
Just thought that I'd add that apparently Kurzweil synths can modulate sample start point in realitime. I used to have an EPS16+ which could do this too - it was an interesting thing to play around with, and much missed on all the k'boards I've had since.

Re: Quit Bashing the GT!
<t>I'm sorry if this sounds like a whine, and as a professional composer I can assure you I make music. But it's simply not the case that the GT is 200% of the original V-Synth. Which is not to say that it isn't a lovely instrument - like all V-Synths, it certainly is that. <br/> <br/> Just that I t...
