Re: Coakley piano vs. SRX-11
<t>Aye, true, nothing beats the real deal. ALL the pianos above are digital, but a few better approximate the real deal much better than others. I really wish I could test-drive the piano I want first, but there is no way to do that with SRX-11 cards or the Coakley piano. Coakley has stated he will ...

Re: Coakley piano vs. SRX-11
<t>Oh yeah, what is up with that Triton Acoustic piano?!!! I almost jumped back in my seat as soon as it played. I was in this quiet mindset listening to the subtle differences between downloaded samples, and then BAM!<br/> It is way too trebly, almost harshly bright, and it sounds like they EQ'd wi...

Re: Coakley piano vs. SRX-11
<t>Thanks all for the replies. Can't get a weighted keyboard right now, which is why I was looking for subjective opinions between the SRX-11 and Coakley's pianos.<br/> <br/> Thunder, that listing at Purgatory Creek was perfect. Even tho they are all in mp3 format, which of course is going to degrad...

Coakley piano vs. SRX-11
<t>Hi all, I know the subject of piano sounds on the Fantom has been discussed much, and I have read through many posts already on the forum. I was initially a bit disappointd by the stock pianos on my Xa, but have settled on So True as decent enough sound for scratch work. It is lacking in sonic ri...

<t>Too funny! Germans with a sense of humor! Great use of the color LCD and sysex, Don. <br/> <br/> I was fortunate to visit a small mountain village town near Stuttgart 3 times for 2 months each. Great country. Maybe because my company was a tech company, but it sure seems that many Germans have a ...

Re: CLICKTRACK 4 DRUMMER
<t>Another simpler option:<br/> <br/> You can make it so the Fantom always plays the built-in metronome sound.<br/> <br/> Just press the MENU button, then select System.<br/> <br/> Select SEQ/TEMPO.<br/> <br/> Now you should see the metronome mode set to REC ONLY.<br/> Change this to PLAY-ONLY or to...

<t>Nick, I just got my Xa not too long ago so I'm also figuring things out as I go.<br/> <br/> I don't know completely what to do, but maybe this little bit can help:<br/> <br/> You asked how to output the track. Well, first off, when you playback a song, the keyboard goes into Performance mode. One...

Re: Piano just ain't happening ... arrrggghhhh!!!
<t>Craigo --<br/> <br/> Strange thing is, when I first auditioned the pianos on my Xa, I wasn't satisfied with any of them. In fact, I have a $30 soundfont on my PC called Grand Piano One, and it is much richer and more responsive than the Fantom's. And that's going thru a little 4.1 PC speaker set....

Re: Xa
Kenn, I think you plugged them in backwards.
Fantom = Master = MIDI "master" signal coming OUT to control others
Yamaha = slave = needs MIDI messages coming IN to control it
Fantom ====> Yamaha

<t>Hmm, where to begin? There are so many angles I want to approach here --<br/> <br/> I've done quite a few drugs, and drink often enough, yet still maintain an above average healthy lifestyle and such. I can attest to the "religious experience" and the good times in general. I also know first-hand...

Re: Hammered Dulcimer
I'm willing to go out on a limb and say if you happened to post an audio snippet of the exact Hammered Dulcimer you're looking for, someone here just might manage to tweak a patch for you to get that sound. Heh heh, that someone may even be me, now that I have my new SRX07 Ultimate Keys card install...

Re: So True.....Classic Piano..and others
<t>I'd like to remind everyone that besides adjusting the Decay or the Release, there is a better, more realistic option for the piano family of sounds (and other acoustic instruments as well)--<br/> <br/> Use MFX #78 -- Sympathetic Resonance<br/> <br/> This effect realistically mimics the natural a...

Re: possible to make a best-of SRX boards?
<t>Aye, you would have to sample the waveforms, but most waveforms are oneshot snippets of mostly attack portions of intruments, arent they? It is the patch data like pitch bend upon attack, sustain, multiple tones, LFOs, velocity crossfading, etc that make up the bulk of the musical sound...<br/> <...

Re: possible to make a best-of SRX boards?
<t>Thanks Rordog for the response. I'm still unclear tho...<br/> <br/> The SRX cards have not only the waveforms, but the patches as well, correct? Does not this also include any longer patches? Seems to me all the work to make good patches is done already on each SRX card... by copying select patch...
