Re: Fantom G Pricing and Availability Thread

<t>Mauro, what exactly did wodeh say that was derogatory towards the G? He merely said that he cannot justify the upgrade price from the X to the G. I'm in the same boat and I agree with him.<br/> <br/> I've had the X for a while now and I was perfectly happy with it (despite the file system!) until...

Re: Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?

I'm very tempted to trade up if this thing can really do what people are saying it can. An important factor for me is how much money I can get for my X8 either by selling or part exchange against the G.

Re: Roland G8 - Paul White NAMM video clip

<t>Thanks for the link, interesting stuff.<br/> <br/> I agree with your point regarding the G. I am wondering whether the money for upgrading from the X to the G would be better spent on a top notch DAW (sonar 7 looks great) and suite of soft synths and effects for my PC. (eg NI Komplete/Reason etc ...

Re: Looking to expand my set up- Which way to turn?

<t>Once again, thanks for the excellent reply, it has given a great sense of perspective. The fact that I see a hardware synth as part of my ideal setup when it seems the whole world and his dog are using software made me think i was 'missing something'.<br/> <br/> It seems that the thing to do is t...

Re: Looking to expand my set up- Which way to turn?

<r>Thanks for the quick reply Art!<br/> <br/> I have a 256mb DIMM installed (couldn't find a 512..) and a PC Card with a 2gb SD card, so I'm good to go on that front.<br/> <br/> I am certainly impressed with your work with the Tweakbook and sound libraries, and will be purchasing them ASAP.<br/> <br...

Looking to expand my set up- Which way to turn?

<t>Hi all,<br/> <br/> I own a Fantom X8 (no SRX boards), and am very pleased with the results I am getting from it. I am looking at buying a software sequencer to make midi work with the fantom easier, and in doing so have uncovered a lot about the software side of music production. <br/> <br/> I wa...

Re: Cubase SX3 & the X6

Ah, cheers Bassman. I thought I might have missed out a step in my advice. Been a while since I've used the audio tracks in anger... :)

Re: Cubase SX3 & the X6

The sample file does not go into the same directory in the fantom as the midi file.

Put the audio file into the ROLAND\SMPL directory.

It should then appear in the sample list.

Re: Why the Fantom has low notes in "sounds" in the Harmony

<t>The sound of a keyboard is a very subjective thing. The only way to evaluate it is to hear it for yourself, don't rely on online reviews alone.<br/> Personally I think the Fantom's sounds sit very nicely in a mix and give a nice neutral starting point for you to put your own stamp on things. IMO ...

Re: Cubase SX3 & the X6

<t>Well, the audio track will be saved in cubase as a wave or aiff file usually, depending on your settings. It will likely be saved in the audio folder you specified in cubase before commencing the track.<br/> Simply transfer this audio file to the fantom in the same way as mentioned and you should...

Re: Cubase SX3 & the X6

<t>No problem,<br/> <br/> Ok, so you have exported the cunbase song as a midi file and want to transfer it to the fantom x?<br/> <br/> I'm assuming you are using the usb midi interface on the fantom, so you will need to switch the fantom from usb midi to usb storage mode.<br/> <br/> Press 'Menu'<br/...

Re: Cubase SX3 & the X6

<r>Hi there,<br/> <br/> I'm assuming that you recorded the track in performance mode?<br/> <br/> If so, save the performance to store all of the patch and effects settings. Then in cubase select 'export' in the file menu and select 'midi'. Save the track as a midi file, giving it the same name as th...

Re: fantom x6 drumsticks

Well, I've not actually tried this... :)

I'm sure the pads themselves could take it, but you'd need to be pretty accurate to avoid putting little dents in your Fantom's metalwork!

Re: External sequencer and fantom x

<r>I was having the same problem, with the external sequencer (Cubase SX) 'overriding' the patch selected on the Fantom.<br/> I decided that I didn't want Cubase to send the program changes to the Fantom, instead selecting patches solely on the Fantom itself.<br/> Just select 'preferences' from the ...
